Rainbow flying high.

Episode three of The Fuzz sees the parallels with Brian DePalma's Scarface becoming all the more apparent, with aspiring drug-lord Rainbow icing his boss Sonny, taking over his business and his woman Roxie. Meanwhile, puppet cop Herbie and his human partner Sanchez are still on the case (despite being suspended), with Herbie donning a fake moustache to go undercover as Flurby, a wannabe jellybean pusher. But when Flurby turns up to do business, he is grabbed by Rainbow's lackeys and thrown into a fight pit against an over-sized and very menacing opponent.

The novelty of puppets in a gritty crime show could quickly wear thin, but the characters in The Fuzz are so appealing and the action so crazy that I'm still finding the show very enjoyable. Highlights this time around include the clever gag about puppets making silly sound effects when they move, several bloody puppet on human killings, and the hilarious sight of fur-ball Rainbow shagging Roxie from behind while she snorts coke. Where else can you see that sort of thing?
