Reading the other 3 reviews it is clear that the reviewers haven't actually watched the movie. This is not cool that you want to sabotage someone's film. Here is a real review of The Amityville Legacy.
Amityville Legacy pays incredible homage to the older Amityville films. In particular It's About Time, A New Generation, and Dollhouse, which were all released in the early to mid-nineties. This film definitely has the same feel as those films, but with a bit more spunk. Like those films Legacy doesn't take place in the Amityville house, however, we do get to see the Amityville house in the opening scene. The opening scene is fantastic, we get to see a retelling of the DeFeo shooting. Even though it's only 2 minutes I feel that it's crucial to the film and it's very atmospheric. Incredible exterior shots of the Amityville house and I really like the red tinted lighting used in the interior scene because it flows smoothly into the opening credit sequence.
The legacy's story focuses on the Janssen family 4 girls and 1 boy. Mark is turning 50 and his kids have come home to visit him. His daughter Julia gives him an antique toy monkey because he had one as a child. However, this toy monkey is the same one the little girl in the Defoe house had under her bed when hiding from her brother before he killed her in the opening sequence. Somehow that evil transferred to the antique toy monkey. Once Mark receives his birthday gift he starts having blackouts and seeing his father who is now pushing him to kill has family.
Some really fun characters in Legacy. With the four sisters, we have Jennii who is introduced to us drinking and driving. She's witty, funny and just a bad ass. She doesn't like kids or the zoo. I love her look throughout the film, from her hair to her clothes she just stood out. Jennii Caroline did a great job bringing a lot of charisma to the character and delivering the dialogue perfectly. Julia is the more serious sister that takes care of her brother and sisters after her mother's death. Julia Farrell (Silent Night, Bloody Night 2) did a fine job working with the rest of the cast. She didn't overshadow anyone even though she is kind of the main character. She definitely gave a sister vibe and had a great connection with the other three ladies playing her sisters. Then we have Breana who is a bit of a wild child. Sleeping with her boyfriend under her father's roof while her father and grandmother are present. Breana Mitchell played the character off as sweet and innocent but you could see there was an inner bad girl. I found her to be likable and very enjoyable to watch throughout the film. Her smile lit up the screen. Brittany the pregnant sister is very innocent and kind. She puts other people's feelings ahead of her own and she's very selfless. Brittany Dailey played the part very convincingly and had some very dramatic scenes throughout the film. Their brother Tony is kind of sassy, but a good guy. He's a very relatable character, especially for any same sex couples bringing their partner home for the first time. Tony Brown did a great job with this part. He was very convincing in the scenes where he was uncomfortable with his father meeting his boyfriend for the first time. He also had a very sassy wit about him, which added to the Charisma of the character. His chemistry with his boyfriend Jade played by Jade Michael Lafont was great to watch. It was nice to see the first openly gay couple in the Amityville franchise.
Not a lot of gore in this film, but there really wasn't any need for it. Most of the murders happened at the end of the film. However the build-up is just right and really delivers in the end. All that character development and story before the final massacre really made you care for what was happening to the characters in the end. I was literally on the edge of my seat hoping that they survived. Interesting enough, this story takes place around Christmas time and in the final scene it starts to snow. I really liked that touch of snow in that final scene.
The final shot in the film really stays with you. It's very intriguing because you don't really know what happened since it cuts to the credits. I feel like the film left me wanting more, but I was satisfied with what I got. In the end, I really feel that less is more and Legacy really delivered just the right combination to make it one of the best Amityville films I have seen since the remake. I know a lot of you Amityville fans like myself have not been too fond of the most recent installments. I can say without a doubt that Legacy is the one to watch. I'm very excited to review the other five Amityville films that will be released this year. If they are half as well done as Legacy I will be happy. It makes me happy that Dustin Ferguson respects the franchise enough to put great effort into making this film so special to the fans. I want to thank all the cast and crew and everyone involved in Amityville Legacy for their great work. A high point in the franchise and I thank you.
