The good reviews are blatant lies.
brieseirb-360556 August 2018
Just completely sick of how movies and the media in general portray people who struggle with mental illness and substance abuse. It's dishonest, stigmatizing, and unnecessary. No schizophrenic acts like that. Psychopaths don't generally act like that either. Addicts very rarely act like that, and most of the time when they do, it's because they were like that long before addiction became a factor. The acting was actually pretty good, talented cast here. Just can't take the actual movie seriously when they so arbitrarily slander troubled people in substitution of creativity and story development.

Seriously? Worst ending ever.
rissaroo-7904317 September 2018
I will give this movie a 4, and the only reason behind that is because the acting was actually very good and the story behind it could have been good but was not well executed. The ending leaves much to be desired. Seriously, do not waste you're time watching it.

Remarkably stupid film
flummery-26 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A bunch of dimwits rent a house to have a reunion with a sibling/former friend who had a drug addiction and mental health problem before they forced her to be committed. Dimwits kill girl, think they're safe. Fine, not very original but whatever. The problem is that the damned ending is telegraphed so loudly that it beats you over the head. Dimwit who rents the house actually SEES the house owner installing cameras in the smoke detectors while she's viewing the place. Wow, what a surprise, the movie ends with the house's owner trying to blackmail them.

Waste of time
emedeia0314864 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Really bad movie. First off,the bgm is really annoying, you barely hear what the actors are saying. Second, the part where one lady is supposed to be well versed in crime scene shows left the part that you're not supposed to touch a dead persons body with your bare hands, let alone the bag where you put the body in,,or the fact that you have to tie all your hair while you're dismembering the body to not leave any dna trace. Lastly, the ending sucks and leaves you hanging. So im sorry to say that this movie deserves the 3.0 rating or even less.

Bad acting, bad plot. Possibly a film student project.
chao_dai28 February 2019
This film is NOT worth wasting time over.

The three main actresses are decent enough at acting (pregnant woman, not so much) but the "actress" playing Cami is a very poor actor. There are some parts where she may as well be reading from a sheet of paper - it's actually possible to tell that she's misunderstood some of the punctuation in her lines by how she says them. There are some cringe-worthy moments when she plays angry, high or crazy.

The plot is simple and relatively uninteresting with highly unlikable characters. However, these characters didn't really need to be likable or fleshed-out, since the plot doesn't really go anywhere and the ending is neither climactic nor anti-climactic, it just kind of goes nowhere.

The multitude of other reviews giving 9/10 and 10/10 are interestingly all written around the same time (around 18th July 2017) and each reviewer created an account just to review this film. Clearly fake reviews. I wish IMDb would have someone check the reviews and delete these blatantly obvious fake reviews.

The fake 8,9,and 10/10 reviews are complete BS
nbadude22 October 2018
Extrramely annoying movie to say the least, unless you like watching a bunch of females scream at eachother and no acting happen whatsoever except for possibly the worst effects I've ever seen for fighting. Likes like they're having seizures while trying to hit eachother. Acting 1/5 Effects 0/5 Story 1/5 Annoyance 5/5

Worst movie ever and i don't lie
begreene25 June 2018
I wrote a scathing review of this movie (rightly deserved) last year and it was deleted. I actually said there was a conspiracy where I was convinced the good reviews were fake bc this was the worst waste of like an hr and a half of my life i would never get back. And i was right. I am pretty sure all of the the good reviews are made by the cast and crew of this movie. Please good people don't make the same mistake i did. Worst movie i have ever seen and I've seen some real doozies.

Awful. All I kept thinking was, why didn't they just chuck her over the balcony. Done and done. The lack of any sort of ending was b.s. Don't bother watching this.

Pretty good crime-thriller for a Thursday!
hi_im_manic11 January 2018
4.5 stars.

5150 is effectively gory beyond most B productions films of this genre. It's unsettling from the beginning and tension is taut until the final scene. I expected it to be supernatural horror or a thrilling slash-fest after reading the synopsis. This film is neither of those. It's a relatively gritty crime-thriller with tension remaining taut up until the final scene. That's certainly applaudible, but with a short runtime it wasn't a major feat. Some care was put into conveying a back story for each of our main characters creating a nice crescendo for us to ride until the end of the film. By the end, we see the characters in a new, and very different light. Is some ways the film was predictable, formulaic. When the landlord character is introduced, I knew where PART of the plot was headed but I still unaware I was watching a crime-thriller until later. Overall, the writing is still fairly good with believable script that simply lacks style at times. I would recommend this one to friends with express interest in the genre who are having difficulty finding something "new" to watch.

Secrets keep you sick...
niq-7746919 July 2017
If you like drama/ thriller where the psychotic is hidden as sanity this is your movie, because 5150 blurs the line between the two. The 911 calls put my nerves on high alert, and Cami gave me flashbacks from when I worked on a psych-unit at a hospital in Colorado. The ending had me speaking in tongues if you know what that means or to put it another way, it has a WTF ending.

Great Flick but not scary
seanc197721 August 2017
I was pleasantly surprised by this cool indie flick. Great acting and a good story line which was obviously left open to a sequel. Whilst it was pretty good on the suspense level, any reviews that you read which make out like this is a movie that will make you jump.......hmmmmmmm....nah. Hoping for a sequel though.

To answer the people question about end in your post it's called imagination you seen the movie now you figure out what happens next.
donaldwaynestephens20 July 2023
It is July 20th at 3:37 a.m. So far seems like a unique movie but I hate the portrayal of the mentally ill population I have not finished the film as of yet but what I can honestly comment is this audience if you learn one thing I pray it is this keeping important things from those you call friends family or loved ones is never a good idea. Most important forgiveness is something all of us need to work on. Forgive and forget is often hard for many. But most importantly do on to others as you would want them to do to you. Think about that logic as you watch this film. So far I am not enjoying the nature of it but it seems to be original and one of a kind to me so let see how it goes from here.

Great Suspense
luvbaja19 July 2017
Loved it, I enjoyed the suspense, the direction was good, the cinematography excellent and I loved the female cast. It reminded me of when I was a kid and sat waiting for the suspenseful ending. Thoroughly enjoyed it . Kudos to the producer Michael Cory Davis. I'm I am going to watch it again and this time invite some friends over for a "pizza party" movies like this as such fun to watch and take our minds off a lot that is going on these days.

Cool indie horror
scriptie19 July 2017
Really well done - especially for a low budget film. I thought the characters and story were gripping from start to finish. Recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror / thriller films. Good direction. Photogrophy is very high level as well. Doesn't feel like a small indie...

Well Developed and Fresh Take on Insanity
allzen-88-65767719 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The actors, from start to finish, appeared well rehearsed in bringing their A-game to the world of 5150. I suppose a large part of that fine acting pool of relatively unknowns has to fall on the talents and skill sets of both the director and the choreographer in how they blend realistic camera shots with the subject of insanity. While 5150 is illegal in my state (Washington), it gave me credible pause to see why it's a procedure that would benefit a family like the one portrayed in this film, and why it shouldn't be dismissed as a safeguard to those involved in the day to day life with someone who steps beyond the realm of what may be classified as normalcy. I felt completely drawn into each of the characters lives and how they tried to balance their own personal lives against the rage and awe of listening to and being around someone with abnormal mental capacities. The ending as well didn't let me down, and... it wasn't expected - nice. The only drawback to me, which was relatively small in scope, dealt with the title of the movie, it drew me in for all the wrong reasons. I'm sure, however, that the producers must have struggled with the title a little bit as well. Insanity and sanity for sure was portrayed quite nicely, 5150 was nothing more than a passing moment in the storyline.

GREAT ending!
lottsoflove18 July 2017
Well written and acted - keep you on the edge of your seat in that good old-fashioned thriller sort of way! Personally, I really enjoyed the gallows humor used to great effect throughout the film.

Order yourself a pizza, grab your beverage of choice, cuddle up with your honey and watch 5150 in the dark! You'll thank me later.

Great & Suspenseful!!!
darkantheman18 July 2017
Tons of great moments in this film. Really strong acting. Didn't know what the code 5150 was until I saw this film. Doesn't hurt that the women are beautiful and not your cookie cutter non-acting Hollywood types. Great to see indie filmmakers working towards original stories rather the the same reboots or cliché horror/thriller stuff we've seen in the last few years. kudos to the cast and crew. Definitely looking forward to a sequel!!!

worth watching
therealellem18 July 2017
Impressive story telling and character development with this film. I wasn't sure what to expect since I'm more of a rom- com gal but I really enjoyed this one. The topic of mental illness is very timely. I'm definitely going to share with friends. The director is clever and manages to take watchers on a thrilling yet twisted journey with the characters that will leave you wanting more from this talented team. Googling them now to learn more about the entire team behind the scenes and on camera!

I enjoyed this simple film
mail-219116 July 2017
I enjoyed this simple film. They didn't try to make a horror film with effects rather showcase the horror of what the characters were experiencing in"real life". It's not a horror film per se. It starts like that but becomes more of a psychological thriller where you have to question what you would do if you were under the same circumstances and could lose it all. I think the acting was strong, the drama was there and it was great to see women getting dirty in a film like this and not being the victims. Overall I thought it moved fast, made me laugh at points, and at some points I was pretty grossed out. I watched it because my girl wanted to see it and I definitely think it leans toward women but a guy can have fun with it as well.

Crazy good ending
Babyjanehudson201516 July 2017
"5150" is a old fashioned cult thriller set in today's modern age. I was pleasantly surprised with the audio and visual effects seeing that this is an indie film. The nightmare sequence is stunningly haunting and beautiful at the same time. All the actresses are good as their respective characters, with Daffany Clark being sassy and tough, Vanessa Giordano emotional and multilayered, and Kirby Johnson switching from innocent to psycho at a moment's notice. All in all, this kept me watching at the edge of my seat and and I hope there is a part two- I would have like for it to be a bit longer, but I read online it was shot in 5 days which is crazy to me!

Well done!
sanfordcasting25 July 2017
I had seen an early cut but watched the final one last night.

A big shout out to the filmmakers, cast and crew who really pulled this off (and in only 5 days!)

I had no idea what to expect and was constantly surprised by all the plot and character twists.

Real People Can Be Scary, Too!
montgomerycamjr-118 July 2017
After viewing SVETLANA'S JOURNEY several years ago, I just knew I had to keep an eye on director/actor/producer, MICHAEL CORY DAVIS. So, when 5150 made its debut, I was there. And, boy, oh boy, am I glad I was!

I am not a devotee of horror films because I believe they tend to be heavy on effects/gore and light on character development. However, 5150, in the capable hands of Mr. Davis, has compelled me to open my mind a lot wider. I believed the characters. They were people. Real people.

I highly recommend this film for filmmakers who don't have a colossal budget, but do have a solid story to tell, solid actors to tell that story, and the know-how to keep an audience engrossed from the opening scene to the end credits!

A true nail biter!
ayoraiford18 July 2017
Flipping through channels;I happened upon this movie and decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did because its not the stereotypical horror/thriller film. Unlike most scary movies where you can predict the entire film in five minutes; I was actually baffled and sitting on the edge of my seat. I never could have guessed the ending no matter how I tried. Awesome movie!
