Warm and loving, even in the face of ridgid custom, religious dictates and parental overreach.

The acting and writing are truly superb. This is a culture I had never seen from closeup before and I was amazed at the sympathy the actors generate. I never expected to enjoy this as much as I did and was sorry to Season 2 end. I guarantee that most people will get hooked on the first episode and enjoy this family-oriented series whatever their religion. In Hebrew with English subtitles.

Truly heartbreaking

Warning: Spoilers
Akiva is very proud about winning a scholarship for his art and invites dad Shulem to the celebration dinner. Unfortunately, Shulem manages to misbehave once more.

On a lighter note, after Libbi's departure, Akiva is trying matchmaking once more, only to be confronted with the fact that he's now classified as "damaged goods" by the Koenigsberg widow, who took over her husband's business.

Giti is forced by Shulem to go back home and she gets nostalgic about her first meeting with Lipa. Turns out, Lipa is a generous guy with a soft heart, who just doesn't fit well into their community.

The Ruchami-Hanina marriage is heading to its inevitable conclusion. One is left wondering what good is the dedication to study, when you cannot love and support those who desperately need you. The final scene, with a desolate Ruchami sitting alone in the tiny apartment is truly heartbreaking. Also, yet another moment of great television: realistic but not sappy or manipulative.
