Simply one of the greatest hours of television ever. Poetic and heartbreaking stuff. So many layers. Truly a masterpiece of a show.

Melancholic ending

Warning: Spoilers
Akiva stands up for himself and takes a firm stance with his father. Shulem is very angry about Akiva's interview on TV, but most of all about Akiva's portrait of a mother with a baby. He insists that his late wife was a devout woman and would have been shocked by a portrait showing some hair escaping from the head cover.

Akiva - quite weakly - states that the woman in the painting is not his mother, but eventually just storms out, leaving Shulem to make the next move.

As it happens Shulem had just had another spat with his brother about Akiva and Libbi's wedding and Nukhem is playing a dirty trick on his brother, offering him 11,000 $ for his burial plot between his mother and his wife, making the offer coming from an anonymous French buyer.

Shulem at first refuses the offer, but then decides to use the money to buy the painting so that it will not be seen at Akiva's vernissage. Once home, Shulem spoils the beautiful painting by covering the woman's hair with blue paint (one of those things that I find incomprehensible).

Akiva goes to the vernissage, but he's upset. As a ray of sunshine, Libbi appears to cheer him up and their story ends with the two of them sitting side by side.

Ruchami contacts Hanina's family and invites them to the wedding. On the phone Hanina's father sounds friendly enough, but eventually it does not appear to a meeting, leaving Ruchami upset and still wondering about her own father.

Giti and Lipa seem on the way of mending their fragile relationship and thus we leave the Shtisel family.
