This is "Lucky", the music video for the Britney Spears song from the year 2000 when she was one of the biggest stars on the planet. In here, she plays a character named Lucky, who is a huge star as well, but also plays herself watching Lucky and wondering how lucky she really is with her fame if she cries at night. There are certain elements in here that work very well for Britney too as sometimes it feels like she was not happy herself with all her popularity. So from that perspective the video feels authentic, but there are moments when it is a bit pretentious too, obviously as this song and video were intended to make her even more famous. But it's still nice to see Britney enter ballad territory and I believe overall she does a good job with it. Four minutes worth watching, thumbs up.

Years ago, I read that Jennifer Aniston's movie titles uncanny reflect her own life, well, coincidence, but Britney Spears, she generally sang about her own life, I guess that way, real emotion got thrown in, and added to her appeal.
LUCKY counts among her early work, back when she was a runaway train. Already here she sings about the emptiness in her life despite having all the trappings of a superstar. With the hindsight of knowing how much angst she has gone through publicly, it is a monument to the skyrocket that was her fame and the subsequent fading thereof.
Such reality-based things really aren't as much fun (to me) for that touch of misery brings it all down, but there is no denying that it's damn great, well worth watching (I've seen it oodles of times) and a Britney classic and totally iconic.
