Love, Comedy, Innocence & Valor !
chiranjivmalla14 February 2016
Nani has created a brand or identity that, if his movie comes he ensures that either it has good story point or screenplay. So far he is successful with his last 2 block busters Yevade Subramanyam & Bhale Bhale Magadivoy. Now he has tied up with Hanu Raghavapudi, Andala rakshasi fame. Of course Andala Rakshasi couldn't create any stir at box office but it got very good recognition because of its music. At the same time it is a comeback for Hanu after 4 years. So let us see how he made the plot in the movie:"Great love story between an utterly innocent guy & bubbly girl and the difficulties they face. Story sounds very normal but the screenplay matters a lot and it wins too".

Undoubtedly the first half is extremely enjoyable and second half has very few glitches. The reason for these glitches in second half, because there is huge change over from first half which is like movie turning into kinda Road movie with a racy screenplay. But if you get adjusted to it, you may love it. Commendable job by Hanu, because it is not easy to make a movie like this by taking a simple story point and playing around that. In every aspect of story, he connected the dots clearly and impresses with his remarkable narration. Music by Vishal Chandrasekhar is just splendid and back ground music is top-notch. I never heard of him before, looks like they got him from Tamil Industry.

Nani has once again proved that he can take up the entire film on his shoulders. Great going with him by picking films which has potential. It is really good to see hero projected himself as Balayya fan in the movie. (Elago balayya ki hits levu at least his fans must be happy seeing this ;) ) Mehreen has done a decent job and it is her debut film. There are 3 adorable kids in the movie, in that one cute little girl(Nayana), she acted so well and it reminded me about the cute girl from Little Soldiers movie. Perfect! I literally liked her acting so much, especially when she utters this dialogue:"Ma illu ekkado Poindi..Kanipiyaledu";) Each & every character had created some impact in the movie. Off-late I have never seen this kinda of coordination. Prudhvi & Brahmaji has handled the comedy part so well. Prudhvi has been rocking with his comic timing in his recent films.

Despite very few odds, the film has its share of laughs. It promises good amount of entertainment even though it has simple story. The usually suave actor Nani, gives a remarkable performance. Very good Rom-Com to watch it with your Valentine! :)

A rare treat!
sandeepkuvs26 June 2016
I was late to watch the Telugu movie Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha (KVPG). No longer being able to go to a movie theatre being one reason and no meaningful (legally or illegally) way of acquiring a good print to watch is another. If the movie is out of theatres, which is typically a week in Australia, you need to wait till the DVDs arrive which could take few weeks to months depending on the whims of the movie makers. Back to the movie, I felt so sorry to miss the movie. It was a treat to watch. I never expected the director, Hanu Raphavapudi, to bring this kind of a treat to the telugu audiences. To the people who are used to brain dead, mocking and useless comedies, someone brought in a black comedy. Can you believe that?

Krishna (Nani), a timid guy, who also happens to be a Balakrishna fan, loves a girl from a powerful local family. However, he does not have the balls to take it forward into marriage hood. When we are being treated to his struggles and escapades, the story takes a twist, he and his girl's family gets dragged into a fight that involves the police, local and international mafia. Do not even think this is a sudden twist and the story takes a turn, with all new characters leaving the old ones out like we are used to in typical telugu entertainers. Surprisingly, everything happens for a reason. The misunderstandings, mistakes and crimes generate lots of humour.

A big thumbs up for the fine performances from Nani and the cast, the direction, the research, the time spent fine-tuning the story and photography. There are a number of scenes I thought showed the kind of hard work, the directory made on the script. One that stood out, the hero, though he cannot understand, acquires a copy of week magazine and reads it. Why? It has a news item on Balakrishna. This is typical of a number of fans (be it sports or movie stars) I came across in real life. They acquire and save anything that is related to their stars.

Brave, invigorating, in-character, throughout

Warning: Spoilers
Well, love stories are a dime a dozen, especially in the realm of Indian mainstream cinema.

This one, however, has quite a few things that do differentiate it from the assembly-line product we're used to guzzling apologetically.

For one, it has the hero (of sorts) never breaking into the smashing 100 goons with wire-fu kinda hero. Though that kinda thing, perhaps on purpose, is going on all around him. All the bleeding time.

2 - his mobile device has got a killer ringtone. Really.

3 - almost like 'Express Raja', this one's got various moving parts, and they're all carefully juggled by the writing/directing team, and used sparingly, instead of getting all mixed up and hitting the metaphorical grinder.

4 - Nani is perfectly cast, but he's so versatile that he could be perfectly cast in any role, possibly, and that's always a good thing. 'Bhale bhale Magadivoy', 'Yevade Subrahmanyam', and now this. He's definitely not typecasting himself, for sure, and is perhaps even challenging his support team (writers, directors et al). And yeah, 'Satyam' Rajesh is a perfect foil to his lead.

However, its not all perfect. The way the situation in the post- intermission session unwinds is underwhelming, and has not been milked to its maximum. Murli Sharma (one of the best actors of his generation, not being given his due, imho), perhaps as good as Nani in 'Bhale bhale Magadivoy', does acquit himself well in this one too, but the runtime of his character is very little (albeit appropriate), leaving us wanting for more.

2 - No need for all the songs, though a few are easy on the ears.

3 - a better thread was needed for few of the beginning-as-lead- baddies, that kinda go nowhere. Perhaps on purpose though.

4 - Underwhelming lead actress. Not cringe-worthy, but insipid for sure.

Conclusion: definitely worth a watch on the big screen, with Nani's voice-over even giving the (initial, and post-intermission) vice- disclaimer message a touch of ironic/sardonic humor, almost a la the beginning of 'Ohm Shanthi Oshaana'.
