Such a good episode!
madysenmor19 November 2022
Love the spin on of a documentary for bones. It gives a more personal touch to the characters. Similar feel to The office. Also love when Cam says "not a snowballs chance in hell" which could be an easter egg to Aubrey being in Suits and Lous Litt saying that line "not a snowballs chance in hell" all the time, it was his signature catchphrase. Loved the Mayer between B&B taking about who is more important in the case. I am definitely on Brennens side that she contributes more to the case, she is the science which in most cases leads to the case wing solved. Cam asking Arastoo to marry her is a great ending that all bones fans has been waiting for. Another amazing slow burn love story.

FINALLY...A Finished "Jeffersonian Documenyary"
gardeniapalms11 August 2019
Over the previous 10 seasons we saw an episode (or two) being made about the "Jeffersonian" for different reasons filming what the team does, but this is the first time we ever saw a finished product. While we hear people talk about themselves and the case at hand, we also witness glimpses into what various employees think of certain co-workers (not to mention the reaction of first grsdrmers to a presentation given by "Bones" in a manner only she could do. So, yes, this episode does have a different format, yes, it's still serious, and, yes, it has a few lighter moments (as in pretty much most of the previous 229 episodes), and the case in focus comes to it's conclusion in the last moments. This show has been on the air for 11 years and, being human, sometimes we tend to forget the basics of the team so it's nice being reminded of what people were thinking when they first started working at the "Jeffersonian" and Hope's for the future (plus, in my opinion, I think it provides a foundation of sorts for the conclusion of the series).

As was pointed out in a previous "review", occasionally the writers came up with a slightly different story that veers from the norm (2...not as many as indicated in another review and which equates to roughly .0081% of all 246 episodes)...if trying to keep it interesting for the television audience is considered to be a bad thing, then I would suggest something else is going on.

Personally, I liked this episode and didn't have a problem with neither the format nor the storyline(s). But here's a challenge for fans of the series: watch the series again (or various episodes) as written in the "Fandom" wiki: according to the show's creator Hart Hanson discussed that her character "almost has Asperger's Syndrome". While the show is based on novels written by Kathy Reichs, the character of "Bones" shares many traits of relative that is autistic. It was neither revealed nor discussed in any episode, but there has never been a mainstream recurring character in television series with autism until "The Good Doctor" (2017) starring Freddy Highmore. I guarantee watching the series knowing that about "Temperance Brennan" really puts a different spin on things.

One of the best episodes
neil-walker-safc3 March 2021
I really don't don't where the low review scores are coming from.

I occasionally write reviews when I feel there's a need. In this case I thought the episode was superb, almost flawless in presention.

I had some laugh out loud moments, but also some really moving parts that brought a tear to the eye.

So far one of the best episodes.

It's not a 10 simply because some episodes of other series are better.

Could Have Stopped at Some Point
Hitchcoc23 March 2023
First of all, the business of a documentary of a TV series has been done several times. Remember the MASH wartime documentary. That said, I thought the case was interesting. If this were a documentary some editing really needed to be done to maybe knock about fifteen minutes of dead space and repetition. Good old Booth gets to show off his medals and Bones is her usual disdainful self. A couple things that could have been snipped are the romantic things, leading to a proposal and a passionate kiss. Also Angela and Hodgins getting hot an bothered. Finally, we have to have the Booth/Bennans at Home bit at the end. What they do is enough. Their personal lives are way too much.

Damn Brennan
valstone527 July 2023
I love this series, but get sooo tired of brennan's ego. This episode lets her really be obnoxious. Sure she's smart, at least book wise. But knows nothing about real life. I also hate the way the other squints let her talk down to them. Sometimes I felt like slapping her. She's like a robot, hardly shows any emotions. Growing up alone is no excuse for some of the things, she says and does. This episode was kind of hohum, nothing special about it. I lost interest when she started talking about how smart she is, and how many masters she holds. So in all fairness I, can truly say that this episode sucked.

Couldn't Do It
HelloBlockbuster29 December 2022
I'm watching the entire Bones series, and surprisingly enough, I think this is the first and only episode I couldn't get through. I got about 15min in and backed out and moved on to the next episode. I had a feeling I wouldn't be a fan even before opening credits, but figured I'd give it a go and not be "one of those people" who complain on IMDB. But, if I wanted to watch a documentary or uncomfortable interviews, I'd turn on TLC. Nothing about this episode was entertaining, to me. The only upside to this episode was seeing (now) familiar faces from shows like Graceland and Law & Order SVU. Pass.

The worst yet
bikerpaul6817 August 2020
I saw the early seasons of Bones a long time ago and enjoyed them. But catching up now on the 10th and 11th seasons has been for the most part a tedious ordeal with very few positives. I had the clear impression that the writers were fast running out of ideas and resorting to the usual clichés - unlikely romances, tragic deaths and disability. This particular episode is a real low point, purporting to be a reality show following the team as they examine the body of a man dead for 10 years. The plot is almost totally devoid of interest, the resolution trivial, and the acting well below its usual mediocre standard. As for claims mentioned in a previous review that the principal characters of "Bones" and "The Good Doctor" are fictional portraits of autism: as a psychiatrist with about 30 years of clinical practice, I can only say that they are grotesque parodies of a disabling but fortunately rare condition.

Fourth time a charm?
sixthromeo20 June 2016
Had a fellow document with them, which was both amusing and interesting. Had a movie in Hollywood done, which was clever to watch the Hollywood actors and actresses be fans of the "real life." Had the Bunsen Dude, which was a good lesson in what we "learn from television." Now this, what was this? What was learned from this? I will need to watch again because I brought home nothing whatsoever from this endeavor. Will there be a fifth re-fashion? Has Bones been on enough seasons already? I love the show. I look forward to every new episode but this, this, wasn't new. One cannot even get an "A" for effort if one is plagiarizing one's own stuff.

My Thoughts
n_imdb-710-34010113 June 2016
I hated this episode... i had to fast forward thru the poorly done parts of episode just to find out the ending. There were at least 2 times where i had to shut off the episode and watch something else. I wasn't even sure the ending was worth getting to... there were several times i almost gave up on watching this episode and then fast forwarded and watched a couple minutes only to want to give up again... i had to push myself to watch the whole episode... if this was how episodes were always done i would have never watched this show in the first place.... The plot of the episode had some potential... but who ever decided to do this sort of TV documentary needs to be fired.. if i were part of the regular cast i would have refused to do this episode regardless of contract... in regular cast contracts there should be something that says they don't have to do stupid episodes like this... this episode may be the reason that there are no spin offs or movies.

When bad things happen to good tv shows
professor_of_gamez7 February 2022
This episode is yet another that makes the argument that this should have been a half hour show.

In this case, because of the documentary, the episode rehashed old details and storylines that would be new and interesting to the viewers of the documentary, but were old news to regular viewers of the series.

Also, the banter between Booth and Bones, which was endearing at the beginning of the show, by now has become as annoying as the "voice" of the teacher in Charlie Brown cartoons.

I agree with the reviewer who said he fast forwarded to the end.

This is a must skip episode.
