"We let these Ford parts speak for themselves"
boblipton3 January 2019
The drive shaft of a Ford engine and other components ignore the troubles that afflict other engines in this industrial film.

Ford produced its own industrial films for many years, but when they wanted an animated segment, they had to go elsewhere. Because Jam Handy had so much of the animation field locked up, and they worked with Ford's rival Chevrolet, the producers settled on Cartoon Films Ltd. this was a small operation which had evolved out of Ub Iwerks' studio, back when he was releasing through MGM. After that contract ended, he kept it going through a combination of work farmed from other cartoon studios and industrial films like this.

This four-minute film is about a minute of stock footage and a cheerful voice talking about Ford quality and the durability of Ford's V-8 engine (which was still in production when I was a child; it was well known that it burnt as much oil as gasoline) and three minutes of Fleischer-level color cartoon. It's a remarkbly hard sell approach for a cartoon.
