Sex & Nudity

  • There was a heavy kissing/making out on bed between Sheila & Joel, nothing is showing, but it was intense.
  • This TV show does not contain nudity, partial nudity or scantily clad characters. There is however frequent comedic/awkward sexual innuendo and sexual terms used throughout all three seasons. There are also a handful of implied foreplay scenes between the primary, married characters and one implied sex scene between teenagers.
  • Many references to sex, as becoming undead apparently awakens a wife's libido. They talk about "pounding one out," "humping," "banging," "boning." A woman gets oral sex on-screen (we see only her top half), and she praises him: "Like that. Bingo!" A co-worker tries to blackmail Sheila into having sex with him; she responds by biting off his fingers and then disemboweling him.
  • A married couple is shown to have a passionate love life. Nothing explicit is shown, but a lot is heavily implied.
  • A married woman has an affair. A teenage boy makes a joke about his mother masturbating to make pancake batter.
  • A man accuses a couple of wanting to have sex with a dead body.
  • Two teenagers wear jackets with vulgar messages, one reading "vaginatarian" and the other "pussy magnet."
  • Various other innuendos and fairly graphic sexual conversations.

Violence & Gore

  • Intense blood-and-guts: Sheila gnaws on bloody limbs, pulls intestines out of ripped-open bodies, is showered in blood, tries to hide dead bodies. She suddenly and violently kills characters we have come to know (as villains). It's all played for laughs, but the gross-out scenes are lengthy, vivid, and frequent.
  • Contains frequent and extreme levels of gore. Violence is present, but to a much lesser extent than the gore.
  • Multiple people are murdered so that they can be eaten. There's hardly any actual gory killings, but bloody and dismembered bodies are frequently shown. They graphically dismember the bodies. They often show various detached body parts.
  • A woman is shown biting off a man's finger.
  • A woman vomits copious amounts, covering most of a bathroom.

Profanity

  • Series 1 - Total 117 religious profanities: 18 uses of "jesus and/or "christ," 1 "lord," 2 uses of "god" or "christ with "fuck," 79 uses of "god" ("omg," "my God," "dear God" etc), 23 uses of "damn," and 5 uses of "hell."
  • Series 2 - total 128 religious profanities: 19 uses of "jesus" and/or "christ," 1 "god" or "christ with "fuck," 8 uses of "holy" (with "shit," "cow," "guacamole"), 87 uses of "god" ("omg," "my God," "dear God" etc), 15 uses of "damn," and 2 uses of "hell" respectively.
  • Some cursing, usually for comic effect: "I feel like a bus station shit in my mouth." Also "fuck," "damn," "goddamn," "bullshit." Coarse expressions for sex: "humping," "banging," "boning." A character calls another "dickless," "puss," and "honeybunch" to imply he's not manly.
  • Fuck, shit, ect. are used frequently in every episode. Strong language like cunt is said aswell but only once every few episodes.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Joel smokes pot, often in his car and before important meetings. Sheila smells it on him and says it's OK with her: "I want you to be the Joel you want to be." Scenes take place in a bar, with women clinking drinks and woo-hooing over cocktails and beer.
  • Characters are shown smoking pot and getting high several times. Harder drugs are mentioned a couple of times, however no is shown using them. A man is found dead with a needle in his arm, implying that he died of a drug overdose. Mild references to alcohol and being drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are several murders, but they are presented in a more comedic than dramatic fashion.
