Good, but....
rcroper30 March 2021
I like this very much, but it has been lifted almost entirely from a series called The Tribe', another brilliant sci-fi about parents disappearing and everyone else left to fend for themselves. I'm a bit surprised that no-one has mentioned this, but then I suppose that the end of the last century is a bit far back now. Obviously there are some differences, 'the walking man' is a different slant on the cult in The Tribe; but there are a lot more similarities.

Not that it really matters, no-one will be reading this!

Just Heard About This Series

It is just by chance that I had just heard of this series mere moments ago and will now scramble to find where I can watch it...my rating will remain neutral for the time being, until I can give a fair and balance review after actually watching it-----but I had to come online and ask and state that when I heard of this show the first thing I thought of was "The Tribe", it sounds so similar with the young coping in a world where the adults have become a non entity, (and also from New Zealand).I got hooked on "The Tribe" while overseas with the Marines during the nineties and it looks like this just might be a re- fit.

Adults disappeared show done right
jaimevrl7658 December 2016
The Sparticle Mystery and Between can't hold a candle to this show which also involves adults disappearing. This show goes beyond the teen soap opera angle and adds a great deal of sci-fi mystery to the show. The story is less about, "look at how these kids struggle and interact in this adult-less world", and more about "what in the world is going on, what is trying to kill us etc."

One advantage this show has over "The Sparticle Mystery", which has a similar premise and identical target audience, is their non-comical villains. A main antagonist in The Sparticle Mystery was a bratty young child that gained power for some inexplicable reason. The villains and threats in The Cul De Sac are far more thrilling than some 10 year old kid who is mean.

I would say that the first season of this show are the beginnings of a great sci-fi show and I look forward to seeing how the mystery plays out. From what I hear this show is getting a second season so I will not be disappointed.

Great show and good acting from kiwi kids

Watched with my teens and it's a well written show that deserves more acknowledegment.

The actors are pretty good, the storyline is very watchable and the locations are fun, with some basic special effects.

I think the whole team has done a good job and overall must have been fun to make as it is fun to watch.
