Inmates running the asylum - Hiphop division
lor_26 May 2016
I've watched its entire history (living in Manhattan) but have never understood how hip-hop and its associated musical form rap took over much of the musical world and ended up crowding out my beloved jazz from the great virtual jukebox of the 21st Century. Mofos is an obscure porn website, which released this crummy video through Brazzers, and hopefully will not make significant inroads with its art form of hip-hop styled pornography.

I recall watching many an amusing Jake Steed video circa 1999 in which the ambitious porno star/creator attempted to integrate rap music and its trappings into porn. He would break out into a rap song at the beginning or ending of the video, and the rest of the hour and a half would consist of him picking up skanky women and humping them as almost a deranged version of our local twerp Ugly George or a XXX variation on the garbage known as "Girls Gone Wild" (that dreaded TV filler that started appearing around this time).

The guys who run Mofos share Steed's narcissism, popping up to deliver unintelligible diatribes at the viewer in between the outbursts of big-name actresses performing sex as purported MILFs. Typecast but escaping the ignominy of such low-grade porn acts are Lisa Ann and Veronica Avluv, both name-dropped and later shown in fleeting crowd scenes at this or that record release party for some rap artist.

The interracial action staged is several rungs below the glossy standard of today though a couple of the busy IR performers Jon Jon and Flash Brown do whip out their dicks and service some B-list porn actresses. Most distressing for me was seeing the great Nicki Hunter reduced to such "IR for pay" shenanigans, especially after I had just caught up with her starting a new and promising career as makeup artist, memorialized in the "Making of" short subject on Paul Thomas's Marc Dorcel project "Une mere et sa fille". Nicki is credited with nearly 400 videos in IMDb, but this Mofos outing must rank among her worst.

Speaking of IMDb, this admirable website needs to take stock of its Adult Entertainment coverage, which is seriously out of whack. It lists over a thousand "TV episodes" from Mofos, which someone has gone to the trouble of transcribing but which amount to one big goose-egg - not TV and not movies and not even videos, just vignette-length web content as ephemeral as can be. This clutter is meaningless and of no archival value, whereas I find myself routinely adding classic real-movie titles to the website on a daily basis, overlooked while the maestros in England are catering to whimsical, will-o'-the-wisp trivia.
