This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2.
While the promise of mysteries, criminal activity, cannibalism, and a story of survival may have gotten most "Yellowjackets" viewers in the door, it has been the complex, fascinating characters that keep folks coming back each week. The major characters of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, Lottie, and Van have given us two different timelines to become our beloved favorites, but there are plenty of supporting characters that audiences can't get enough of, and I'm not just talking about their teammates in the cabin.
It's sincerely impressive that "Yellowjackets," a show that prioritizes the stories of women above all else, managed to make a legion of fans (many of whom are queer) become obsessively protective of Shauna's himbo wifeguy Jeff (Warren Kole). And of course, who could forget the consistent comedic relief that comes from a character like Randy (Jeff Holman), the words of wisdom...

For the first time on television, a transgender character is tasked with saving the world.
“We talked for a long time about adding a trans character to one of the DC shows, and ‘Supergirl’ seemed like the right fit,” executive producer Robert Rovner tells Variety. “Our show is all about representation and inclusion, and we want the show to represent the world we live in.”
After a worldwide search, trans activist Nicole Maines — whose battle to use the bathroom of her choice changed state law in Maine and was featured in the HBO doc “The Trans List” — landed the key role of Nia Nal, aka Dreamer, in the CW series’ upcoming season.
“She was so magnificent in every way, and just happens to be a gorgeous actress,” says co-showrunner Jessica Queller.

On Saturday at Comic-Con came news that Nicole Maines would be making history on the fourth season of CW’s “Supergirl,” becoming the first ever trans superhero on television.
Variety sat down with the trans activist shortly after the news broke to talk about her character Nia Nal aka Dreamer as well as what the TV casting means for the trans community.
“I haven’t really wrapped my head around it,” Maines told TV exec editor Debra Birnbaum at Variety’s Comic-Con Studio. “It feels fitting to say with great power, comes great responsibility,” adding, “I’m nervous because I want to do it right.”
Maines, who was featured in the HBO documentary “The Trans List,” says she wants fans and TV viewers to take away a better understanding of the trans community with the casting.

Warner Bros. Television presented panels for its CW superhero dramas “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “The Flash” Saturday at Comic-Con.
New “Arrow” showrunner Beth Schwartz joined the show’s cast onstage at Comic-Con, promising to keep the show rooted in the tone it has previously delivered as it enters its seventh season.
“I’ve been on the show since season one,” said Schwartz, who rose through the ranks from writer to executive producer and showrunner. “It’s been a long time. So it’s not a completely different show, but I’m going to put my own spin on it.”
Colton Haynes, who is returning to “Arrow” in season seven in his role as Roy Harper, praised Schwartz. “It’s the best show that’s ever been on the show since the show started,” he said.
Haynes also spoke about his character’s storyline this season.

Janet Mock has no qualms about calling out double standards.
As men and women in Hollywood continue to go public with experiences of sexual harassment and abuse, the Lgbtq activist and author shared her perspective on the role that race plays in how said stories are reported, and praised Jane Fonda for speaking to the hypocrisy.
“I think about the discrepancies between the amount of attention that the [Harvey] Weinstein story got vs. say, the R. Kelly story,” Mock told Et during the Pen Center USA 27th Annual Literature Awards Festival in Beverly Hills, California, on Friday, where she received the Freedom to Write Award. “I think, even within our media, we tend to only report on the ‘perfect’ kind of victim.”
In Kelly's case, multiple women have come forward (before and after allegations against Weinstein began to dominate the news cycle) to accuse the R&B singer of sexual and physical abuse. While Weinstein seemingly...
