The Halcyon prepares for its Fiftieth Anniversary celebration, but all is not well. D'Aberville announces he and Lady Hamilton plan to marry, he now blackmails Toby directly to obtain secrets. Douglas turns up at the Halcyon asking Richard for a job, Richard naturally refuses, threatened by the secrets from their past. Max receives positive news about his family. Toby has the courage to confide in Richard, who takes matters into his own hands. The devastating explosion seen in the opening episode is explained.
They certainly saved the best for last, as a wonderful series comes to a dramatic and powerful end, what a short sighted decision to ask this after just a single series. All the loose ends are nicely tied up, a shock ending, which revisits those events right at the start of the first episode, a tragic ending. I had hopes for a Sonny and Betsy story, and was not let down.
