Very poorly shot and assembled early XXX feature
lor_15 February 2017
No screen credits is a wise move for "Carnal Go-Round", an example of the "anything that will go through a projector for an hour" nature of much of early porn feature production, after the stags went theatrical circa 1970. Some recognizable cast faces make this barely watchable on the level of "oh, there's Sandy Carey!" responses by the viewer.

The six scenes are crudely strung together without benefit of much interstitial connective tissue, so instead we get a quaint throwback to Silent Era inter-titles, befitting the mainly MOS footage. The cast, including voluble lead Becky Sharpe, get to enunciate at a party scene, where the nominal plot unfolds, centered on a creepy, manipulative bad guy.

But it's the mechanical sex that dominates this clunker, featuring Mr. Ugly himself, Henry Ferris and old reliable Ric Lutze getting their share of sack time. Hairy-bushed Carmen Olivera has a significant role, while Sandy Carey is completely wasted.

Film ends with another movie world reference,as Becky addresses the camera with the Looney Tunes cartoon sign off "That's All Folks!" It may be all but it ain't much.

Vinegar Syndrome unleashed this stinker 44 years after on one of its new 12-hour compilations, only making me long for the pioneer work in this arena by Something Weird Video. At its current pace, VS may end up reissuing the bulk of the SWV catalog, a recycling that I find to be a total waste of time and effort.

Enjoyable early 70's porn quickie

Warning: Spoilers
Sassy streetwise hooker Alice (a winningly brash portrayal by fetching brunette Becky Sharpe) teaches eager newbie Minnie (an appealing performance by slim looker Carmen Olivera) the tricks of her trade. However, complications ensue after Minnie's fiancé Arnold (a solid turn by Ric Lutz) finds out what Minnie does for a living.

The seedy Los Angeles locations, shaky hand-held cinematography, scratchy sound, neat array of kinky johns, and no-holds-barred profane dialogue all give this breezy grinder a certain raw immediacy. Those expecting a bleakly realistic depiction of prostitution will be disappointed, since this item instead proves to be a much more carefree comedic romp complete with a happy ending and cutesy use of silent cinema-style on-screen cards for exposition. The sex scenes are pretty hot, explicit, and energetic, with Minnie's lively session with her first paying customer rating as a definite arousing highlight (the guy does the reverse cowgirl position with Minnie at one point). Fans of vintage Golden Age smut should dig this one a lot.
