Aerosmith kicked off their “Peace Out” farewell tour on Saturday (September 2nd) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, where the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band played an 18-song set filled with their many hits and fan favorites.
Back in May, Aerosmith announced that they’d be embarking on a final tour (tickets available here), stating, “It’s not goodbye, it’s Peace Out! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
On Saturday, singer Steven Tyler and company launched the first show of the 40-date North American outing with “Back in the Saddle,” followed quickly by the hits “Love in an Elevator,” “Cryin’,” and “Janie’s Got a Gun.” Alongside those instantly recognizable tunes, the band worked in deeper cuts like “Adam’s Apple,” “No More No More,” and “Seasons of Wither,” as well as their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Stop Messin’ Around.

Inspiration for classic rock songs sometimes came from unexpected places. For example, Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” was inspired by The Three Stooges. In addition, Steven Tyler said the meaning of the song was cleverly disguised.
Aerosmith | Gems / Contributor Aerosmith liked The Three Stooges so much they inspired Joey Kramer’s nickname
In his 2014 book Rocks: My Life in and Out of Aerosmith, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry discussed the band’s relationship with The Three Stooges. “We’d jam for five or six hours at a time, stopping to run back to the apartment to catch reruns of The Three Stooges,” he said. “The TV was in Brad [Whitford]’s room, where all five of us religiously watched the episodes, no matter how many times we had seen them before.”
Perry contrasted The Three Stooges with other old-school Hollywood comedians. “The Marx Brothers may be wittier, and [Charlie] Chaplin and [Buster] Keaton are geniuses,...

Aerosmith’s “Rag Doll” got its title from a songwriter associated with Pat Benatar. The tune makes some lyrical choices that don’t really work. On the other hand, Aerosmith’s weirdness is part of the band’s appeal. Aerosmith | Gems / Contributor

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television revealed the winners for this year’s screenwriting showcase on June 8 via a virtual Zoom ceremony attended by nearly 70 Mfa screenwriting students, faculty, and staff.
During the event, host Cat Wilkins acknowledged the deaths of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd and encouraged support and allyship for the Black community. The attendees ordered in from Black-owned restaurants during the virtual ceremony and were surprised by special guests including Pose co-creator and UCLA Alum Steven Canals, Oscar-winning filmmaker John Ridley, and showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman.
“I know this is a really strange time culturally, and it may not feel like a time you want to celebrate, but you should absolutely take this opportunity to pat yourself on the back,” Canals said. “Stories matter. Stories are important. That is the way that we reflect our humanity…and heal the world.

There were at least three too many villains on "Going Rogue" and they weren't enough to elevate a mediocre episode of The Flash.
This The Flash review contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 20
Within the Arrowverse, villains of the week are a necessary evil. Well, they’re necessary inasmuch as these shows refuse to abandon their 22 episode seasons, or barring that, treating each half of the long season as a more focused “mini-season.” But anyway, from time to time you’re gonna end up with a villain of the week.
It’s not always a bad thing. Sometimes you luck out, and end up with someone like Rag Doll, who made his debut earlier this season in “All Doll’d Up.” While not a classic, it was about as solid as you could hope from a semi-throwaway instalment, and Ragdoll himself is an eerie, occasionally genuinely scary presence, and it...

If you tuned in for the most recent episode of The Flash, then not only did you learn of the Negative Speed Force concept, but you also saw it utilized by Nora West-Allen. Not long after Eobard Thawne revealed its secrets to her, he came to regret his decision to do so because that very energy has now seemingly corrupted the young woman known as Xs.
Whether this development leads to Nora only temporarily going over to the dark side or ultimately sees her emerge as the Reverse-Flash’s successor remains to be seen, though my gut has me leaning toward the former option. Still, you never know what kind of surprises the producers have in store.
For now, though, she’s going to be a bad girl of sorts, as the Scarlet Speedster’s own daughter will be teaming up with the likes of Rag Doll, Weather Witch and...

Aerosmith haven’t even started their Las Vegas Deuces Are Wild residency at the Park MGM yet, but they’ve already announced plans to take it on the road. In August they’re going to take the show to casinos in National Harbor, Maryland, Atlantic City, New Jersey and Springfield, Massachusetts. (They’re all MGM properties, making it a pretty simple business decision.) Giles Martin (son of Beatles producer George Martin) has joined the creative team for the show and he’ll work with director Amy Tinkham and producer Steve Dixon.

When committing to a superhero TV show, does the viewer make a pact to accept bad science as well as the inherently weird science?
It’s a question that comes up now and again, and one that I often raise via TVLine’s TV Questions column, or sometimes with a real-time tweet. And every time I do point out a show’s leap of logic — which is on average maybe once, twice per TV season? — for every person who joins me in picking the same nit, there are at least a couple who snap back, “It’s a superhero/fantasy show!

Each season, The Flash confounds us all with a variety of intriguing mysteries, usually ones involving whomever may be the big bad. Suffice it to say, I haven’t forgotten when we were pondering the true identities of the Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Alchemy and Savitar, some of whom turned out to be the very men known to comic book readers – but with a bit of a twist.
To the surprise of few, the Scarlet Speedster’s latest adventures once again have viewers and media alike scratching their heads while waiting for several enigmas to unravel. As usual, the main villain, this time being Cicada, is at the center of such scrutiny, as his identity and motivations are different from his counterpart in the source material. Slowly but surely, we’re learning more about the new threat to the heroes (and sometimes criminals) of Central City, but the tide may soon turn.

Yesterday, The Flash reached its fifth episode of season 5, “All Doll’d Up,” which saw Team Flash go up against their most nightmarish foe yet in the form of Rag Doll (America’s Got Talent‘s Troy James), a criminal with super-powered contortion abilities who robbed folks while wearing a chilling mask.
Typically, the metahumans-of-the-week don’t make much of an impression, as they’re just a temporary obstacle for our heroes, but this time Rag Doll really made an impact on fans watching at home. Many just couldn’t deal with how eerie he was, from his weird mask to the cracking sound effects used when he contorted his body. In fact, it’s probably safe to say that a lot of Flash fans didn’t sleep much last night.

Flash Fans, Can You Hear Me Screaming???
I don’t know how it manages to keep outdoing itself this season, but The Flash Season 5 Episode 5 proved exactly why it’s the most streamed show on The CW network.
Where. Do. I. Even. Begin?!
I don’t like to delve into the “shipping” culture of TV fandom too much, but I find it important networks who aim themselves at younger demographics present strong, healthy, loving relationships for their viewers.
West Allen is the shining star for The CW in regards to that sentiment.
The West Allen dynamic has always worked incredibly well, but this season the writers are paying extra attention to making it into a consistent theme. Now that they are parents, Barry and Iris’ relationship has become the undeniable heart of the series.
The reason WestAllen have become such an iconic pairing isn’t just because they’re married.

The Flash takes on the villainous Rag Doll!
This The Flash review contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 5
I'm worried that I'm starting to sound more like a broken record than usual, but I'm just gonna lay it out here one more time up front. If "All Doll'd Up" is an example of what an "off" week for The Flash season 5 is going to look like, then I think we are going to be just fine this year. This season has so far successfully balanced its necessary metas of the week with its main story (Barry/Iris/Nora) and its secondary story (Sherloque/Cisco/Caitlin), and I have yet to feel shortchanged by any of it. Even the villains of the week, often the bane of this show when not dealing with more recognizable Flash rogues have worked well in the context of the episode, and this week, the Rag...

In its previous seasons, The Flash has played host to some rather memorable overarching villains. Already, we’ve become acquainted with formidable foes such as the Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Savitar and the Thinker. But soon enough, we’ll welcome the next major threat to Central City, that being Cicada.
So far, this fella has been shrouded by much mystery, but lead actor Grant Gustin thankfully spilled some beans while chatting with Entertainment Weekly, saying the following about his next onscreen nemesis:
“He can dampen other metahuman powers, and we don’t know at first how he’s able to do that. He’s got an edge that no other big bad has ever had. We don’t know who he is. He’s mysterious. He’s just kind of an intimidating, big scary man that can render pretty much all of these metahuman superheroes useless, more or less, in battle. He...
So far, this fella has been shrouded by much mystery, but lead actor Grant Gustin thankfully spilled some beans while chatting with Entertainment Weekly, saying the following about his next onscreen nemesis:
