Solid work

A warm film with clear characters and an intriguing story. It's funny without trying too hard. I really like the way the story inverts the usual dynamic between a mother and her children. It's a pretty simply shift to do that, but I don't really think I've seen it done before. The acting is pretty solid, with some wonderful faces especially from the two actors playing the woman's children. And the main character, the mum, played by Maha, is pretty funny. She's quirky and you sort of want to hang around with him and find out what she's thinking. The film is great for focusing on her for so much. There aren't that many short films that are made with a focus on a more senior woman too, so that's a refreshing difference. I saw the film at a screening and some people there said they wanted more. A good sign!
