Season 2 -A Crickety Political thriller
sunnypaaji8 December 2019
Stay patient and keep watching. This season is the politics behind cricket and it builds up slowly, arouses your curiosity and then zooooms. The climax surprises beyond expectations. Awesome series n well written story. Also very less abusive language and toned down compared to season 1. The web series are fun to watch because they aren't the usual Indian tv shows and brings forward complex and Interesting stories.

Gripping and interesting
criscrossin16 December 2019
The world of IPL has always been murky and dark. But cricket inspires us to no end. It was high time that some good commentary on it comes out in the entertainment industry which is pretty close to real life. Of course it will be dramatized to an extent, because it's not a documentary. But this series hook us up with it's close to real scenarios. The game is protrayed well and the shots are real. The actors look like they are playing themselves, which is different from yesteryears. The editing is excellent. Keeps us interested. The photography is top notch. Storyline is the real king here. The parallel universe of film life and sports are intertwined in india and the players are sometimes the pawns. The power brokers are politicians. The mix of drug and sex is now a modern day reality which we can not avoid anymore. The expletives do not create shock effects now as they are common place in the metropolitan lifestyle. Overall I am mighty satisfied with this second offering , following up on the first one, because it's very very difficult to do. But the writers and producers have carried on very nicely with the story. They have not removed the crowd favourite actor/characters because then it becomes very difficult to again relate to the main players. Richa chadha purposefully shows some skin and plumpiness and she has a typical understated dialogue style. Some may not like it. Her ambition in cricket power as well as films with deft tricks are fascinating. Angad bedi embodies the noble character as a captain who is respected by all, I like his acting a lot. Tanuj plays an emotional hurricane type person who is naturally talented Vayu, and not into intricate shrewd strategies. Sayani gupta is my favourite because of her intellectual sexiness. Vivek oberoi has a lesser role in the second series but done well. The main villain , bhaisaheb was done by the very talented Amir bashir. I always thought that his talent was not being utilised properly. Here he has done a good job of showing power and corruption in the high places. Sapna pabbi as his daughter oozes sex appeal but doesn't have a meaty role. The rookie fast bowler Prasant , played by Siddhant chaturvedi once again did well with his vulnerability and mix of talent and temptations. Amit sial has been his nemesis and looks properly cunning and dangerous. The others also supported very nicely. I am truly impressed with this series. I want it to go on and on.

Season 3 is not as compelling as Season 2. Things get a little predictable.
Perspicuity124 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
SEASON 3

WHAT WORKS :

1. One of the key positives of this show has always been that it's paced very well, and that continues to be a strong point of the show. The end of every episode takes you by surprise because of how engaging the show is.

2. The addition of Aamir Bashir and Sapna Pabbi to the cast of this show was a great decision in the second season, and it continues to pay off this season as well as both actors have performed very well. This season the story delves deeper into the life of these two characters, which makes for a great watch. Aamir Bashir as Bhaisaab plays the tough business tycoon and an emotional, heartbroken and vulnerable father and brother with equal ease and full conviction. Goes without saying that Aamir Bashir is quite outstanding in the show.

3. Dalip Tahil's cameo was quite solid in the show. I don't know if he will be there in the next season or not but he certainly added a lot of weight to this season with his powerful performance.

4. The show is inspired by real life events and this season incorporated the Virat Kohli - Rohit Sharma rivalry through Vayu Raghavan and Rohit Shanbagh (played by Akshay Oberoi), and that is always an interesting watch because truth often comes out in the form of a fictionalized story.

5. Cricket matches look very good. Just like the previous two seasons, this season too every match gives you the feel of an actual match, and for that the creators need to be praised.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK :

1. This season lacks the energy of last season. Last season was fired up by Vayu Raghavan (Tanuj Virwani) and Rohini Raghavan's (Sayani Gupta) stellar acts, but in this season both of them remained quite understated. In fact, unlike the first two seasons, both actors didn't have a lot to do this season.

2. The absence of Angad Bedi and Siddhant Chaturvedi was definitely felt. It's not quite clear why they opted out of the show, but it's quite unfortunate to lose two key characters, especially Siddhant Chaturvedi, whose arc as Prashant Kanaujia was quite exceptional. Perhaps he finds himself too big for this show, considering he's doing movies now, but one must never forget their roots.

3. There's only so much that you can do with an idea. The creators managed to surprise the viewers with the cricket matches in the first two seasons, but in this season one could clearly see all the twists and turns beforehand. The surprise element went missing this season.

4. Richa Chadha as Zarina Malik continues to be a misfit in the show. She has definitely improved her acting and dialogue delivery, but one can't deny that this role required a younger and more glamourous actress.

5. Sidhant Gupta's (as Imaad Akbar) addition to the cast didn't quite add anything to the show. He wears the same expression throughout the season and all his scenes were quite dull and predictable. It looks like he has been given the track of Siddhant Chanturvedi (as Prashant Kanaujia), everything that happened to Prashant was happening to Imaad as well, on top of that Rohini (Sayani Gupta) started taking a romantic interest in him. Why repeat the storyline ? It felt like watching the Season 1 story with a different actor. A key difference was that Siddhant Chaturvedi was a better actor and Prashant Kanaujia's story had more heart, believability and as a result had a bigger impact on the audience.

6. I was really happy to see Shivani Tanksale in this season, and was hoping to see her role develop into something big, but that didn't happen. The writers almost forgot about her in the later part of the show.

7. They shouldn't have killed off Bhaisaab. I would have much rather preferred Vikrant Dhawan or Zarina Malik to die, they don't have much to do in the show and the performances of both actors has been quite below par. Aamir Bashir on the other hand is a much better actor and as a character adds a lot of depth to every scene that he is in.

The creators of the show need to be credited for making three binge worthy seasons and releasing new seasons at regular intervals, it's a rarely seen phenomena in India. I hope, that if they are planning for future seasons of the show, then they should ensure that the show retains its edginess and continues to be a compelling watch, and the actors they hire are actually actors and not just models. Season 3 may not have been as good as Season 2, but I would still look forward to the next season, if at all there is one.

Season 2 - definitely lives upto it's expectations and is a must watch for any cricket fan or anyone who wants to know more about what happens behind leagues like IPL
Chandrasekar_V27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a continuation of the first season which gave us an insight into the happenings behind the scenes in IPL like the glamour, corruption, politics, spot-fixing, doping, training and auction strategy. The second season gives the audience a more comprehensive view of all the activities instead of sticking to just betting/fixing, which was a big positive. Especially the way they showed the teams lining up for the auction and how they played mind games to get their favourite players was fantastic. Easy to say from here to buy player X,Y,Z at so and so price but the complications involved can be seen in these episodes.

Though the disclaimer states there are no resemblance to real characters or events, there are some very striking similarities between the fictional characters and their real life counterparts. They show a president of the Indian cricket board whose daughter is a major stakeholder in an IPL team (Ahem, Srinivasan??). Also they show a very experienced batsman who is both captain and coach of a team (Warne for RR) and much much more. These similarities pop up so many questions in between for all the ardent cricket enthusiasts. Also the amount of faith that one of the captains has on one of his young players was reminiscent of how dhoni used to completely back his players.

There were many insightful information provided on aspects like the functioning of the Yo-Yo test, doping test, the role of an analyst in the team and the use of sabermetrics in cricket. In fact the way the Haryana analyst allocates specific roles to specific players reminds me of the very same tactic Warne used for his players in the 2008 IPL. For budding analysts like me, this series gave me some great insight on what the analyst does and how challenging that role can be.

Inside edge was pretty much about an ambitious Cricket administrator who wanted to create a league and use it to popularize the sport to other countries and in the process ends up doing a lot that he shouldn't have just to save his league so this vision comes true. While his acts can't be justified, was his vision of making cricket a global sport - the reason behind the corruption - really wrong? That's the opinion I had at the end of it all.

With the final twist that was shown, looks like there's going to be a season 3 too very soon.

Welcome this change !!
virajssk11 July 2017
LOved this attempt and we should all welcome this kind of efforts. The best thing of this series is performances by all actors. We can link many scenes , dialogues to current situations. Few scenes look filmy off course but then we have president candidate killing people in house of cards so...

I liked it.. Thanks Amazon.. Indian TV-series needed this..

A great watch...
yuvraj-singh-sandhu12 July 2017
Well something worth watching and spending your time on is finally here. The era of pathetic Indian daily soaps seems to be nearing its end. Congratulations to the makers,Director and the Actors for making a master piece on the realities of the sport. I find this series to be inspired by events that actually happened in the last 10 years of the IPL.

If u have read this review just go and watch the series, you will be engrossed and highly entertained.

A huge Thank you to the team of Inside Edge. You guys are amazing!!

Hardly Edgy
sanjeevanwar8 December 2021
Anwar Says : It's again like earlier two seasons about betting, fixing and auction of teams with technical jargon, high on intrigue but quite predictable . Director Kanishk Varma was given free hand to play with cricket loving audiences, not edgy but interesting. Women characters were shown astutely and calmly manoeuvring the situation to the best of their advantage.

Aamir Bashir , the Bhaisaheb, stoic character finally broke down and scary face Vivek Oberoi , in spite of all the evils in him , showed emotions for family. Richa Chaddha as Zarina was quite subdued and Sayani Gupta as Rohini was busy throughout finding her father as not a culprit. Tanuj Virmani as Vayu and Akshay Oberoi as Rohit looked good on pitches . Characters that impressed the most are Sapna Pabbi as Mantra managing to get betting legal and Ankur Rathee as Allen propagating LGBT rights .

The first two seasons were more on nudity , sex , selfishness and boardroom drama and less on Cricket but this season was more on subject and substance . The Suave , slick and Style are present as in earlier season. Clear indication of fourth season coming, the Production knows that cricket sells in India. Such lovers can't afford to skip this season as well . 6 out of 10 from me .

Coolest Sports web-series
sagarktkr22 July 2021
Never saw sports drama unfold so dramatically and with all plots being picture perfect. Excel entertainment has "COOL" quotient enabled in all their endeavors, be it story, music, editing, acting.

S2 was much better than S1. Vivek Oberoi is a delight on screen in S1. S2 had a better storyline.

"A fresh breeze, gritty and original but goes over the top sometimes."
ajit210628 August 2017
"Inside Edge" is India's first Amazon web series and it is a fresh breeze. It defies the strictures of decayed Indian daily soap opera and creates a new template for original and gritty content lovers. The production value is high with an ensemble cast. Thanks to Amazon and Essel Entertainment (Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani).

The content is edgy and niche, it shows us the ugliness and prettiness of showbiz and cricket, the two most loved industries of this generation. The deceit, crime, vendetta, and manipulation are the main ingredients of this excellent served dish. Some of the actors did a phenomenal job like Amit Sial, Angad Bedi, Tanuj Virvani & Siddhant Chaturvedi. Richa Chaddha as waning actress needs a better dialogue delivery and Vivek Oberoi as a shrewd magnate goes over the top sometimes.

However, being an Indian show, it occasionally becomes too dramatic with some larger than life characters and instances, which seems pretentious. Having seen TVF's Pitchers, Permanent Roommates, Tripling, Humorously Yours etc. are not equipped with rich production but the acting & content are more relevant and inventive.

Overall, Amazon and Netflix are giving the prospect to the Indian creative pool to come at par with Narcos, House of Cards, Ozark, Breaking Bad etc. It is good to see "Inside Edge" making a mark here.

7.5/10. Waiting for Season 2.

The first web series from Amazon Prime Video and it was super fresh. No one ever thought there could be a series on IPL type cricketing event and it would be so much thrilling to watch. Thanks to Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for making this series.

Just MEH!
arnavnerd11 July 2017
If you want to some exciting characters, some interesting plot lines as the trailer promises, then this show is NOT what you are looking for. The much hyped first Indian Amazon Original just fails to attract you at so many levels.

Vivek Oberoi is given the least amount of characterization of all. He is just present in various scenes, to sip his drink and give the audience a "evil smile". Richa Chadha does a decent job by playing the character Zarina Mallik. Female roles, though few, were given some amount of characterization, which makes them a l'll bit interesting.

Producers and directors were of the idea that cussing too much and adding a lot if sex scenes would save the series from its plot holes, but they don't. After first episode, the cussing became tiresome for me to hear. Plus they don't have a cliffhanger so that they can make us stay for the next season, if there would be any. There is just so much to say about this first misfire by the Indian filmmakers but 1000+ words is very less to even describe them properly.

Season 3 is bad
opotraining8 December 2021
They should have just sticked to PPL like first 2 seasons. This time they involved Indian team and made the series just worst. So many loopholes in this season. A player who has not played any domestic cricket gets selected to Indian team by political influence. Prime Minister had no other job but to watch 9pm prime time news and react to that. Betting bill is easily passed without any recommendation from committee. All members of different state cricket board are corrupt. Test match is being played like T20 is just funny. Both captains declaring first innings for Zero is another funniest thing. Gay element is added which doesn't add anything to main storyline. There are many more things.

The first 2 seasons were not perfect but it was somewhat relatable with IPL. Season 3 is too much.

Glamour of Cricket
rohanswamy1798914 August 2017
A surprisingly well made series. Its always tricky to pick up Cricket as a subject because people expect a lot of originality when it Comes to delivery. can go horribly wrong.but it surprises.

The only Misfit was Vivek oberoi. the larger than life, extravagant billionaire outfit didn't suit. Would've loved to see Ronit Roy probably.

A good series and a good start to Amazon prime originals in India.

Excellent, Superb. Full of Thrill.
pawanjounkani6 September 2017
It is a movie which is splitted into 10 parts and each part contains Glamour and Thrill. It shows the INSIDE reality of Film stars, Politicians and Crickets,

All the casts were chosen distinctively and played their role Outstandingly, magnificently, admirably and flawlessly.

Direction was Superb and the most amazing thing about the story was that when you start watching it, it creates an addiction to watching it till the end. Climax was awesome.

Keep it up.

I loved these series and waiting desperately for Season 2 to be released soon.

What looks real, may be real !!
madhukar303 September 2020
Inside edge is a show based on the behind the scenes & workings of the much famed Indian 20-20 cricket league, the IPL. This web series paints a glossy picture on the givings or rather misgivings within the cricket league. Vested Ownership interests, power toggle, pampered players, Bookies and the betting scene, inter player rivalry, the role of support staff, player's personal lives, etc are some of the issues presented in this 10 episodes web series.

Though this is a work of fiction, I honestly believe Inside edge can't be very far of the truth. Yes cinema exaggerates all the time but it looks like the creator of the series, Karan Anshuman has mixed facts with fiction or facts with facts pretty brilliantly. The cinematography is excellent throughout the series, the game scenes look very real. Screenplay is definitely on the plus side, as it consists of many complicated plots & sub plots but presented in a rather simple way that is easily understandable to the average joe. Production design & costumes are primary reason that makes inside edge more believable.

Acting is kinda just around par level overall, without any outstanding performances, Sayani Gupta fared much better than the rest by a mile. Casting could have been a little better. Overall a good watch to all cricket-crazy fans to get a realistic peek into the glamorous world of IPL....err PPL. I know it is a fictional web series but just imagine if the writers had even 60-70% authentic stuff in their script.

A great and a Sincere Attempt..... Loved it.
najjamkamath12 July 2017
The first thought that ran through my mind when I heard about Inside Edge was that it was going to be a Disaster. But I am glad to admit that this show completely took me by surprise. Taking inspirations from some real life incidents and also some real life people, Farhan Akhtar and his team have come up with a MASTERPIECE.

Right from the word go the series would catch your attention. Show was so Crisp that I finished it in just one go.

Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Angad Bedi, Tanuj Virwani, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sanjay Suri were excellent and fitted their role perfectly.

But a Special mention for Angad Bedi and Tanuj Virwani... Both of them were excellent and Vivek Oberoi was as usual at his Villainous Best, Nobody can beat Vivek in a Negative role.

The only issue with the show and the reason for giving this show 9 and not an absolute 10 that it deserves is because how much ever I may have loved watching it, I would not be able to show this Series to my parents who also are also a die hard Cricket Fans and would have enjoyed it if there was a censored version available too.

Season 1 2 3
sameerlodaya5 December 2021
Sameer Lodaya

This is about the whole 3 season of inside edge

Remarkable season season 1 followed by equally season 2 and upto 5 episodes of the season 3 then after it gets dull

The series is about ipl ,cricket and ongoing scenarios like betting fixing politics sex and glamour..the makers have made a good catchy series which will hold you from season to season..very high performances by vivek Richa angad and multiple stars..the pace of all the season goes in required manner with amazing background scores and locations which makes it very stylish

Right from season 1 to 6th episode of the 3rd season the series will hold you for a binge watch but the last 4 episodes of the 3 are dull and dragged to conclude the season..the climax was very normal and was not expected from such extravagant series.

Be ready to be on the edge.

Exceptionally good for an Indian show.
LamboWalker14 July 2017
Its definitely not the best show in the world, but the fact that a series like this was made in India, released in India (the land of Saas-Bahu daily soaps) is fascinating. Lots of interesting characters, plot-twists will be welcoming you. I've watched only like 3 episodes and I am already hooked to it. Totally recommend watching this.

Heights of stupidity
vikas678200012 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What a stupid series and people are giving 10/10. Not even close to reality. Player is carrying gun with him and threatening others just like that. Common how come he passed with gun through security check. In first episode player is in sex act, high on drugs and reaches cricket pitch in 3 mins. Foreign players are threatened by local bookies and they don't talk to their cricket board or embassy. International player is taken by police and no lawyer is with them. Seriously it is very bad potrayal and such a bad acting by Vivek Oberai.

Clean Bowled
I just completed watching the season 1. i start with the best part. 1. production values are excellent, Nothing looking shabby or over the top. The cricket ground, the matches and the euphoria is very well captured. 2. The characters are very well written. The captain played by Angad bedi is in good form. Richa chadda looks little clumsy as aging actress, but does her part well. Tanuj virwani as Vayu is a revelation. Sayani Looks charming as an analyst. Sarah jane as TV host/love interest, Sanjay suri as Coach and Siddhant as a rookie is excellent. Vivek oberoi overdoes in some parts. 3. None of the episodes drag you to boredom and tension is always on your nerves. 4. the behind the scenes in Cricket premier league are portrayed with finesse and gives deep insight to what goes in the dressing and the board room.

All in All this a welcome relief from the soap operas of TV and the birth of new Era of Webseries. great work...waiting for season 2

Season 2 - Absolute gem!!!
neeraj-singh7 December 2019
Just ended up watching all the ten episodes. A wonderfully crafted thriller!!!!!!!! It just seems to have started where it had left last. Even taking it to The next level.

When you select cricket as the background a for Indian audience, it must be done technically very well. I must say that team has done a great job and i enjoyed every moment of the show. Never felt like it is slowing down. Pace is nice enough to keep you glued to the screen. The characters know what they are doing. You start believing that they are real cricketers.

But the most important aspect is their life and what we stand for as a human being. We relate to whatever happening. The multiple personal / emotional / relationship drama has been nicely presented in this multi-layered emotional thrilling drama. You don't know who is right and who is wrong when the writers and the screenplay lives the moment which looks so real.

Looking forward for the next season.
