Exclusive: Sausage Party and Addams Family animated feature filmmaker Conrad Vernon has opened the doors to the animation production company, Straight Up Creative with producer and development executive Danielle Sterling.
Under the shingle, the group will develop and produce a slate of original content focused on animation aimed at a global audience, not just for kids, and with an edgy take.

Not long after hunting a monstrously-sized spider in Kiah Roache-Turner’s upcoming horror thriller Sting, Alyla Browne is hanging out with Sonic the Hedgehog and his fast-moving friends. The up-and-coming actress revealed she’s playing Maria Robotnik for Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3. According to Sonic the Hedgehog lore, Maria Robotnik is Professor Gerald Robotnik’s granddaughter and Doctor Robotnik’s cousin.
While there’s a chance Browne is playing a different character named Maria, I’ll bet my collection of original Sonic the Hedgehog Sega Genesis cartridges she’s the character who debuted in Sonic Adventure 2. On social media, Browne posted a picture of herself wearing a puffy bodybag-looking jacket while sitting in an actor’s chair from the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set. The chair has the name Maria written on it, with Brown giving two playful peace signs to her fans. The jacket covers her head to toe,...

If you smell chili dogs on the wind, it’s likely because Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is racing into production! Ramping up after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes ended, Paramount Pictures teased a show start image on Twitter. The pic features a striking new logo for the sequel on a clapper. The logo appears to shorten the title to Sonic 3 instead of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Standing next to the clapper with clenched fists is a mysterious-looking character. At first, you might think it’s Sonic. Still, upon closer inspection, the intimidating figure is indeed Shadow the Hedgehog, who was teased in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 during an after-credits sequence.

Count me as one of the chorus of people who, when the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie was announced, rolled my eyes and exclaimed, “No one asked for this!”
And yet, here I sit completely eating my words, because that movie with the weird VFX re-do that inspired some rather harsh memes turns out to be a complete delight, offering some really great family-friendly fun.
Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) lands on Earth as a child after escaping his home planet, where he was chased by evil creatures who wanted to use his abilities for themselves. Using one of the golden rings given to him by his pseudo-mother, Long Claw, he lands in Green Hills, Montana. There he grows up, enjoying the simple things — reading his favorite comic books (“The Flash”), playing ping-pong with himself, listening to music, and observing the townspeople, while staying completely hidden. His favorite people to watch...

“Get Out” scene-stealer Betty Gabriel may have had her breakout moment as the film’s creepy housekeeper Georgina, but she’s been toiling away in the haunted horror Blumhouse for years now. “I guess I have an affinity towards darkness, the dark side,” she said. “The movies are very on the fringe. They live in a very dark place.”
It’s a far different life for herself than Gabriel had first imagined. Although she recalls acting in a church play and putting on skits as a child growing up on the East Coast, she never thought of herself as a performer. Instead, she envisioned working with animals and even earned a Bachelor’s degree in animal science at the Iowa State University.
