Just Getting Started

Not long after the last episode in Season 3, Harry believes the man assumed to have killed his mother is not the one. There is a major case coming down involving the police shooting of a black man. The outspoken lawyer is gunned down in a cable car late at night. This looks like the kind of thing that is an erasure by the police. Harry, for all his angles, is given the job of investigating by Irving. He is put in an adversarial role because this lawyer has leaned on cops in the past (but not Harry). Bosch is hesitant to trust anyone. His partner is frustrated by his silences and his basic offhandedness. Evidence at the shooting site has apparently been tampered with but Bosch makes a discovery as the episode ends. I forgot just how good this series and Titus Welliver are.

Strong start to the fourth series

Bosch is put in charge of a high profile murder case.

I think this is the most intriguing start to a Bosch season so far due to the backstory presented for the victim. It promises a difficult situation that makes me want to find out how the main character handles the political sensitivities as well as solving the case.

Several characters have interesting scenes such as Eleanor, Walker and Elias. Clark Johnson is on great form as the latter and as a fan of The Wire I enjoyed seeing him in an important role.

Titus Welliver and Lance Reddick have some strong exchanges of dialogue together, both feel like they are the characters they portray.

The production values are as strong as ever, with the filmmakers creating some good atmospheric moments that work well, particularly around the crime scene and one charity event that Bosch gate crashes.
