Only a few minutes of life wasted

"Things unspoken" the blurb says. And that's because there was no dialogue in this meaningless film from Australia.

It starts off arty with weird noises and odd shots. We gradually get to see the scene and what's happening. Clearly it's illicit as the other two guys freak when they spot the third guy silently watching them. Then we get normal cinematography - shots of the two remaining guys and of the third one leaving.

This was clearly meant to impress us with some tosh about how clever the director was to get the actors to convey nuance and meaning without words. In fact it was meaningless. Was it a set up? Was it a break up? What happened? The fact that it ended on an equivocal note meant that the director had failed. Gesture and voiceless expression hadn't led to a conclusion that we could be comfortable with.

And what was the rainstorm for? That really was a redundancy.

As I said in the title, five minutes of life lost. If it had been 20, I'd have been kicking myself.
