The twist ending was a bit too smooth, kind of like Tales of the Unexpected. Still, the lead-up to the finale was suspenseful. Wonderful to see Felicity Kendal making a guest appearance in this murderous episode.

This episode started off missing the mark in the comedy and drama department. When it became clear it was an ode to And Then There Were None it got mildly entertaining, but the twist of the killer reveal was disappointing, and the ending wasn't that surprising.

I appreciate the Peter Kay cameo, but it wasn't some of his best work either.

Heart of Glass

The final episode of the third season again returns to the horror genre, though this time it's a little more murder/mystery than demonic possession.

Seven seemingly unconnected people are invited to the debut of an art installation by late artist Eliot Quinn (Johnny Flynn). Beginning with Neil (Peter Kay) the invitees are picked off one by one, and form part of the exhibition as they depart. Who is killing them, and could the guests be linked in a way that not even they know?

This is perhaps the closest the show has got so far to being an all star show, maybe even since the very first episode. Shearsmith and Pemberton are joined by Kay, Morgana Robinson, Felicity Kendal, Fiona Shaw and Montserrat Lombard. Each gets their moment, with the exception of Kay who's killed of pretty quickly. Fiona Shaw is probably given the most to do and remains one of the most versatile actors working today.

Truth be told, it is again a lot more comedy than true horror to this finale, which I found a touch disappointing, but the humour did work, and this was another terrific end to a solid season.

An absolute joy.

Private View is a fantastic episode, and a great climax to the third series. It's very much an Agatha Christie style episode, a fun version of And then there were none, one by one the guests at the bizarre party start dying in macabre circumstances.

You can tell by the calibre of guest artists how highly thought of this show is, and the fact that Sheasmith and Pemberton can attract the likes of Peter Kay, Felicity Kendall and Fiona Shaw is a credit to their intelligence, humour and writing talents.

I am a massive fan of Fiona Shaw, she's one of the finest actresses I can think of, so wonderful to see her do comedy, she was exceptional here, proving she can do humour as easily as drama.

Loved it, 9/10

The Art in Heart

I found this episode to be one of the best in the series. Unlike a lot of episodes in this show, I was kept entertained from beginning to end by the unfolding plot, subtle comedy, and entertaining, or quaint, or likable, characters. Even though it was just half an hour. Most of the criticism I've heard is relative to the tastes of the viewers, and not the episode itself having faults. The minor criticism I have myself is that the final ending is too indirect with what it tries to imply happened. There is a very plausible explination that was subtly implied by a single action, too subtle. I feel they could have put more emphasis on that action. Regardless, I enjoyed it and I hope you'll enjoy it too.

A fun take on the slasher genre

This episode is very enjoyable as it brings together a motley band of characters who seem to have nothing in common. Great interplay between the cast.

Warning: Spoilers
Peter Kay pops up in a cameo in this episode and gets promptly killed.

An art exhibition invites a select group for a private viewing but one by one they get knocked off and it is all done in a gruesome fashion.

You might think it is the artist but he died three years ago. The invited group are a varied bunch, a humourless health and safety officer, an art lecturer, a Z list celebrity, a blind author and apparently have nothing in common.

Another wonderful instalment that apes the Agatha Christie mysteries, it was so well directed and another little twist at the end. Some of it did not quiet work for me but it was so enjoyable.
