The group visits the "Immigrant Historical Society" in this episode. In reality, there is an institution called the Tenement Museum (formerly the Lower East Side Tenement Museum), a National Historic Site at 97 and 103 Orchard Street. It was founded in the 1980s when it was discovered that the top floors of the building had been sealed in 1935 and never again disturbed, making them an unchanged artifact of New York's late 1800s and early 1900s immigration history.
The episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series.
