Jim Calhoun began his basketball coaching career at the high school level In 1972, he was given the position of head coach at Northeastern University, where he led the team to five NCAA tournament bids. Soon after, he became head coach at the University of Connecticut. Calhoun is one of only a few to win three National Championships as an NCAA Division 1 coach. In 2005, Calhoun was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Julius Erving is known as one of the most "artistic" basketball players of all time. Fans enjoyed watching him play for his style of athleticism and showmanship. However, despite his great style, Erving always found himself looking for a way to win and put on a show for the crowd throughout his career.
