DJ really has the mind of a child yet can easily flip to being callous and cunning. The schoolboy rings an hotline and tells the operator he has killed someone and emptied the victim's semen. However as soon as the police visit DJ over Appraisal's disappearance he frames the local shopkeeper who has been making fun of him.
Now that Mrs Forrest was killed by one of Whelan's goons, DI Wilton knows that Forrest was the police mole.
In a flashback we see Whelan visiting Patrick who gave him one of his handmade bears with a genuine certificate. Whelan is grateful but his goon gives Patrick a handgun.
In the present Leanne goes to see Patrick convinced he is the father of the baby. They want Patrick to tell them of his involvement with Whelan and they also tell him of their true identities and he agrees to hide them. However Rhona is far from convinced that Leanne knows how to do a pregnancy test properly.
The first two episodes seemed more like a zany runaround as our two heroines try to get away from whoever is after them. This one was more grounded and worked better because of the character moments and the comedic elements came across as better.
