Very Sweet
madelinedupaljean3 March 2020
I don't understand why anyone would hate on this film. It was so sweet and heart warming. I just love Nessa. I want to be her friend. Ha. I want to visit this town and I want all the characters to be there. Such a feel good film. Ignore the haters. It lives up to the hype. At least in my book it does.

Charming good fun

This film has a great premise, some goofy fun characters, some truly tender moments between people who just want to live and be happy. Not perfect, but entertaining. Some good acting, great score, and laugh out loud moments.

Kudos

I love reading reviews but the one from bosmithla below is offensive and reads more like a personal attack against Daniel Keith. One has to wonder. Apparently, bosmithla has a 25 min YouTube rant in a dirty car slamming Mr Keith and then promoting his own film he uploaded to YouTube for everyone to learn what real filmmaking is.

I give LOVE IN KILNERRY a 7/10. It did it's job. It's cute and funny. I get that the acting is a bit like Clue and theatrical. It did it's job. But it's not a 10. I feel those should be reserved for Lawerence of Arabia, Braveheart, 12 Years a Slave, The Artist, Schindler's List. But a $1 mil directorial debut that went from a small play to megaplexes across the country, I say kudos to Daniel Keith and his team. Ignore the bosmithla's of the world and keep going.

This movie, a smash at film festivals (40 awards), needs to be seen! It's funny, charming, and ultimately, an honest look at relationships.

Adorable, Funny, and Endearing!
melisaalbright-586064 March 2020
This movie is so adorable! I was fortunate enough to catch it at the Soho Film Festival in NYC amidst a jam packed house. I absolutely love the premise and it's unique story line. It does a lovely job at showing the power of being unleashed from our emotional and societal confines. Sometimes, all you need is just that little outside impetous to unleash its plocebo effect, and voila, your unblooming buds have finally blossomed! This charming film ushered the audience through laughter, tears, and aws, finally landing us at hope. The actors were phenomenal, delivering wonderful performaces with endearing relationships. My personal favorites were the characters Aednat and Fergal! They definitely hit my heart strings.

I actually saw the film - GREAT!!!
production-450923 March 2020
I don't know who these people are below that claim to have watched the film in their living room, considering the film isn't available to the pubic yet. I saw it at the San Diego Film Festival and the audience laughed through the whole thing and loved it. They had to add another show because it sold out. Then we heard they sold out three shows at the New Hampshire Film Festival. The film has won over 35 awards. It must not be as dreadful as this person claims. Sounds like a jilted ex of someone in the film. The awards speak for themselves. Can't fake those.

I really enjoyed this film
scottfam-502-248033 March 2020
I saw this at the NH Film Festival and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the humor and the simplicity of the townsfolk. I found it to be total escapism but still had a good theme of living your life as fully and in your own way as possible. I thought that the scene that shown while the credits were running was hilarious....unexpected and just puts a smile on your face. I'd see it again.

Wanted to like it
nancyhotz12 June 2022
It really just wasn't very good. It felt like I was watching a film of an amateur play. It had a few giggles, but it was predictable, and mostly uninteresting.

Once in a great while...
stevensstaci22 August 2022
Once in a great while, a group of actors, following their passions and dreams, put together a film so lovely it touches the heart. This film rises up above a lot of other indie films in its production value and wonderful message. I immediately got the theatrical acting style of Clue. I got the humor and what they were trying to do. It just clicked with me. I also grew up in a small town not that unlike Kilnerry. The writer really understands how to write people, their insecurities and fears, and how to bring them all together at the end.

It is what it is and it was good

Calm down Karens of the world. Not every film is Lawerence of Arabia, nor should it be. Went with two girlfriends. We're all over 55 and we laughed through the entire movie. Its not going to win an Academy Award but we knew that going in to it. Didn't want to see Jurassic World or Lightyear so we took a chance on this one. Glad we did. It was a great girls night out. We recommend it.

Ain't No Art House Film. Thank God.
billym-0882419 June 2022
My wife and I laughed. My grandson hated it. He kept comparing it to art films. We loved it. The characters are pretty well defined and if Kilnerry was a real place we'd go visit. Reminded me of a New England Schitt's Creek.

I couldn't stop laughing!!
bowmanbs3 March 2020
The film itself is set in a beautiful little town with wonderfully quirky residents. I loved the age diversity in the cast! It was so nice to see people over 16 on screen. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the entire film, and every comedic nugget was fun and surprising! The cast was charming and entertaining every step of the way. Highly recommend if you're looking for a laugh and a feel good movie. Bravo!

Really enjoyed the film
tjedstrom-13 March 2020
I saw the film at a film fest in NYC on a weekend trip to the city. I saw two others at that film festival and Love in Kilnerry was the one that me and my friends talked about the most. I thought it was great. Fun story with the heartfelt moments of how to be in love.

Silly Fun
clairebennyboo25 June 2022
What a wonderful film. Silly and fun. Loved the characters. I hope they make a show out of this on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I think a lot of people would really enjoy it. And for you ladies, the sheriff is very handsome! We need more movies of him.

Loved it
densworthcolin22 August 2022
I loved every minute of it and wanted more. However, this story would probably make a better play than a movie. It would be huge on Broadway. I get why they made it a movie first and it does work.

The Way Movies Should Be Watched
folgerslisa22 August 2022
Theater was full. Everyone was laughing. It's the way movies used to be. It is an independent film. Its not a $50Million budget and there are no huge stars. But whoever produced and directed this thing is a genius. I was so impressed by the production value. And everyone left smiling and talking about the film. It was a good time.

Love Is in the Air
flexylexiwilliams22 August 2022
Such a refreshing film. Remembering to love those around you. We're so overly "woke" right now, no one is really communicating. This film could not come at a better time. And Daniel Keith is hot af. He was great. His dad was hysterical. Nessa lovable. All the characters were great.

Not Good
bosmithla23 May 2022
Sorry for the less than creative title, but it's completely in line with the script, acting, editing and quality of this film.

It's like a high school student film - complete with lowbrow crude humor alongside uncomfortably stale and rigid dialogue and an unhealthy dose of naked seventy-somethings. A stunningly prudish film (the word "fornicate" is used liberally), yet with childish crude and lewd elements thrown in the mix randomly - and seemingly to prevent folks from enjoying the kernel of sweetness this film should have.

Indeed, there is a kind thread running throughout, but in today's world where a half intelligent 16 year old can create a compelling, thoughtful and true-to-themselves film on an iPhone, there is no need for this drivel in the broader market.

This is the American Pie for the assisted living set, replete with actors who can't seem to get enough local community theater gigs to satisfy their (long ago) childhood dreams of being actors.

There are so, so many good, small films each year and I appreciate all who try...but this just didn't cut even the must basic mustard. Daniel Keith should use his fading semi-attractiveness to land as many small tv roles he can, while he can...and never again try to write or direct a piece of filmed "entertainment."

Proper British FIlm
coxheadstephens22 August 2022
England should adopt Daniel Keith as one of our own. The film has all the markings of British humor, humility, and self deprecation. Working class charm. Pride and love. I get why they made it in New Hampshire in America. But this film is going to be huge across the pond.

Simply devine
buchananalison7 September 2022
A remote New England town falls victim to its own fears and finds love. Sounds delightful and it is. My husband and I found the characters adorable, witty, and the message awe inspiring. It is nice to see a comedy about seniors that isn't degrading them or pushing the "old" factor. A reminder we still have spirit left in us. Thank you Daniel Keith for making such a wonderful film. I've recommended it to several friends and they seem to love it as much as we did. Kilnerry is so beautiful. The acting is heightened like a play, or maybe like the film Clue or Schitt's Creek, but we felt that just added to the humor. Very witty indeed.

Lately it seems everything on television is filled with gore, shocking humor, or humor that isn't funny at all.

Daniel Keith is a genius at comedy writing
biscofranky7 September 2022
Daniel Keith really is a genius at writing comedy. Almost all of the jokes I had never heard before. Everyone laughed. The situations were really imaginative. I can see where film snobs and young kids will hate on this film, but from someone who has studied comedy for decades, this was well executed for what they had to work with. I'll buy it when it comes out. The confessional scene must have been rehearsed because the timing was spot on. I will admit there is a lot of exposition Daniel could have cut back on, but it wasn't so bad that most people would notice. I jumped down the Daniel Keith rabbit hole after watching and discovered he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in it and apparently had something to do with the distribution as well. Several articles said it took seven years to make. I'm sorry, but everyone who has hated on this film, I'd like to hear what you've done with that same level of dedication.

The message behind the film is positive and such a great reminder about the people around us and often how we look at ourselves. I could see this film going far.
