Not Bad...But...

"Diwankimoola" has its moments...could have reach miles..but ended well short. Nyla Usha was superb and is the life of this movie. Her Thrissur slang and natural acting is a treat to watch. Siddique has also given another splendid performance. Kunchako Boban is only having a cameo role in this movie. The movie has its ups and downs. There is a serious lag in the first half. The storytelling and the introduction of too many new faces adversely affects the feel of the movie...though came back strong in the second half with an inspiring plot giving us the hope of something big to happen, but couldn't justify it completely in the climax. The film revolves around a bike race event. The race event was shot pathetically and could have been made much much better. I was hoping for a "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar(1992)" kind of goosebumps and I got nothing. There are some good songs and the BGM was also nice. Overall, Diwanjimoola is a good time pass movie. Watch it with (very) less expectation.

Capsule Review: Diwanji Moola Grand Prix
nairtejas10 March 2018
If you create a graph of director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon's filmography, you will find North 24 Kaatham (2013) at the peak from where you will find a downward curve and at the end of it Diwanji Moola Grand Prix. A lazy film, it stars the untalented Nyla Usha as a municipal ward member who passes herself as a good Samaritan. She is so much altruistic and into the cause that she adopts a deaf and dumb guy and even registers his name into her ration card. So much big is her heart, but even bigger is the heart of the collector of the city who out of all the issues hampering development in the city decides to refurbish a motorcross racetrack. With Kunchacko Boban in a blink-and-you-miss guest appearance that does not add much to the film, director Menon goes on a lazy drag race that is just a haphazard display of sequences. There is no relation between the first scene and the next as he tries to push some non-linearity into an already boring film. The plot does not make sense, while the execution puts you to sleep due to lack of a humor and conflicting drama. There is no way I could watch this film in a theater which would rob even the most average man's will to continue living. Diwanji Moola Grand Prix is dull, has uninteresting, cardboard characters, and is made with full laziness. Avoid at all cost. TN.

I liked it.

All things considered this movie is actually a good Malayalam sports movie. There is a few new actors. They all did a good job with their performance. This is a feel good family movie. It's not everyday you see a dirt bike in Kerala or in our movies. The ending could've better. I feel the movie ended abruptly, as if the producer ran out of money.
