Hunting Hitler meets Russia, Russia, Russia. More History in Baer's 9-11 Comment
Trafe22 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This investigation, from the get-go assumes Oswald as the sole assassination of JFK with Baer believing Oswald did the shooting but could not have pulled it off without support. That's a non-starter for me. There's too many questions to assume Oswald had no co-conspirators. Only on episode 1, but it has the feel of Hunting Hitler.

We know the US State Department paid for Oswald's return tickets from Russia to the US after he had defected and lived there for 3 years. Oswald was sheep dipped CIA. The only way he could have been KGB, as is suggested in the show, would have been if he were a double actually reporting back to the CIA. But that would make Oswald some kind of super spy. Very unlikely.

Robert Baer has one thing to answer to for the historic record. And that's an explanation to his on camera remark that he, Baer, knows the guy who on the day before 9-11 went into his broker and told him to sell it all. "His brother works in the Whitehouse." Why he's still making public appearances and we don't have an answer to this remark is mind blowing. Baer needs to be subpoenaed and asked under oath for a clear explanation of this remark. This comment by Baer is available on YouTube if you have not seen it yet.

Anyway, we're expected to believe the Russians NEEDED to be rid of JFK knowing they'd get a waiting Texan to fill the empty seat. That doesn't pass the smell test. Dulles tapping Angleton for an operation they'd run overseas...means, motive and opportunity = the CIA.

There's only one question Robert Baer should be providing answers to and that's his 9-11 comment.

CIA agent tries to "prove" Russian connection to JFK assassination.
rafename30 September 2017
A speculative fiction by a propagandist trying to prove the narrative CIA already claimed. He does admit CIA covered up info in the JFK investigation. Letting the very misinformation & propaganda wing which lied about the killing of the president be host of a show about new details is not journalism but shady at best. Shows like American Ripper speculate wild theories & try to prove it in a harmless entertainment but the murder of a US president is more recent and tasteless to treat unscientifically.

Complete crock
harrisonlawpleadings16 September 2017
Watching "the Cuban connection"episode They "discover" a base in Belle Chase. It is portrayed as a secret location. In reality, it is property belonging to Tulane University. Property housing it's natural museum. F. Edward Herbert Research Center and the United States Japan Biomedical Research Laboratory . Then they discover a hidden base with watch towers in Key Largo Florida. Again the property is the location of Nike Missile Control Site off of county route 905. It is labeled as control site MH-40. This show is a complete crock of crap.

Hunting Hitler nonsense once again
flan998 May 2017
The same formula as Hunting Hitler: Pick a sensational old event, launch an investigation into it, run around in circles mangling history, and then move on to something else.

They'll probably look for Big Foot in 2018.

Or Amelia Earhart.

The show is funny in an odd way.

Warning: Spoilers
Note: plenty of spoilers!

The formula for these so-called documentaries is so hackneyed these days. Start with not much material and just keep on repeating it ad nauseam until you reckon the ADD types have got it. As if that wasn't bad enough, what put me off this show was its shrill tone. You'd think they were trying to provoke a war. By the end of the first episode they had me thinking they were actually going to blame all this on the Soviet Union - or as they persistently call it, "Russia". So much was made of Oswald's visit to the Soviet embassy that they actually almost overlooked the fact that he had lived in the USSR for some years beforehand and that his wife was a Soviet citizen.

On top of which they made no bones about comparing the old Soviet Union with ISIS. Whatever their faults, the Soviets were not ISIS so the comparison is at best odious and frankly, unfair. Even during the Cold War, it is possible that a person could visit a Soviet embassy for a legitimate reason. The same could not be said of ISIS, quite apart from the fact that they don't actually have embassies anywhere. References to "an act of war" were nothing short of hysterical. Anyone who knew anything about Oswald knows that he was just a bent-out-of-shape post teen, along the same lines as John Hinckley or Mark Chapman. Unhinged and in need of psychiatric assistance. There was no way the Soviets would have taken him on.

The dramatised way they narrators hammer home their points is just cringe-inducing. In fact, the whole program is insulting to anyone with even a shred of intelligence.

Blatant disinformation.
ocurme5 May 2017
In the first episode Baer makes a big deal out of LBJ's 11/23/63 conversation with Hoover where he asks "Have you established any more about the visit to the Soviet embassy in Mexico in September?" Baer compares Oswald's visit to the Soviet Embassy to some modern day terrorist visiting ISIS headquarters. However on the LBJ Hoover transcript, Baer blacks out Hoover's response: "No, that's one angle that's very confusing, for this reason – we have up here the tape and the photograph of the man who was at the Soviet embassy, using Oswald's name. That picture and the tape do not correspond to this man's voice, nor to his appearance. In other words, it appears that there is a second person who was at the Soviet embassy down there." In other words, Baer knows that Oswald was impersonated in Mexico City, but hides that from the viewer. I guess it's true that no one ever really retires from the CIA.

Mostly Great But A lot No So Great.
swojtak11 November 2019
Bob kept saying every chance he got that Oswald killed Kennedy! Oswald was never given a trial and the rifle did not have any of his prints on it until the rifle came back from the FBI. In addition, the FBI had to adjust the rifle scope because the rifle could not be shot accurately until that was done. Bob kept saying over and over again that he always believed Oswald killed Kennedy like he was afraid that if he stated otherwise, he would have been prosecuted. However, some of the good parts were when Bob interviewed people in Mexico and Russia. The last witness was a former Cuban Intelligence Agent who made a startling statement. Bob never asks questions about Marina Oswald's family having ties to the KGB or how Oswald was able to return to the US so quickly from Russia. He just stated Oswald got married and returned to the US-end of story. Lastly, the series is worth watching because they did come up with some interesting facts but it had too much melodrama and listening to Bob became like finger nails on a chalkboard.

Sickening and dangerous

Warning: Spoilers
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7132032/ With growing concern I am watching the rape of History by the History Channel. I reviewed American Ripper recently because I felt some disgust over Chasing Hitler and other lame History programs and wonder why anybody would want to waste money on this garbage.

I've recently watched s conspiracy theory documentary which was a lot more interesting, JFK to 9/11 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4798606/ (if any of its true, I don't really know) I have 1 theory, which is somewhat extreme, but not entirely unimaginable. I think the History Channel is the official propaganda channel of the CIA/Gov. They seem to mass-produce documentaries of which some are repetitions of facts (which nobody knows about) and thus can present these known facts as new facts, they build some credibility and appeal to masses by sensationalizing, having gained this credibility they can now make new shows using the same format and simply distort, twist and rape history by presenting half-ass truths and asking stupid questions. Objective: This will divert many viewers from watching the lesser known documentaries, and thus raise less questions.

God forbid the masses would think for themselves....

If Baer is former CIA, we are in trouble
dixiedoggg18 July 2019
Another crock of crap from out of nowheresville...

Within 2 minutes of the first episode, ex-CIA spook Baer tells us that Oswald couldn't have shot JFK without support. No mention of possible Oswald innocence ('I am a patsy'), no mention of possible Mafia involvement, no mention of American intelligence agencies planning hits on pretty much anyone they please etc etc... So he instantly is relying on the 'lone nut + whoever' theory to tell us how it happened. Never mind that in a lot of other theories the CIA is the prime suspect all along. He never really mentions that little tidbit, so I assume the whole series is tainted from the beginning.

OK, so he believes Oswald was the shooter and he had help, bring in the 'experts' who agree with everything he says, and you got a pretty boring show actually. Full of information that he claims was 'just released', yet I know I've seen this stuff in almost every book/movie/documentary from 1963 on. And he is the voice of the CIA. Oh boy....

Boring, repetitive, little or no new information and a conclusion that still holds true today, 'it's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma...'

Watch the Beverly Hillbillies for a better perspective of the JFK assassination... At least that was entertainment...

Still trying to sell us the single bullet theory after over 50 years
darrenhutchison27 April 2018
Pointless and quite the waste of time. Fancy gimmicky crap that is really quite insulting to everyone's intelligence. To try and tell us in a long winded way that 'yeah LHO did do it, but he had help'. Really doesn't matter when that still means it was a conspiracy. The one thing a lot of people forget is that shots 2 & 3 were almost on top of each other but it takes over 2 seconds to reload the rifle. Which means there was two shooters. CONSPIRACY. End of story.

Oh Dear......
andrewrye-0653517 September 2017
This review won't be any better than the others. It really is a shame that, if 2 million documents were released, this is the best they could do. I just about switched it off within 5 minutes when the CIA guy said he always believed that Lee Harvey Oswald was the only gun man involved without justifying his statement. Because he was ex-CIA we should just believe him? This set the tone for the whole documentary (if you could call it that). Throw in a few trendy words like landing in Mexico (by helicopter? again why?) and say 'here we are - ground zero'. Ground Zero? Thought Dallas would have been ground zero. Meet up with a tough guy complete with hipster beard and haircut, veteran of 5 missions to Afghanistan and Iraq who's experience will prove invaluable. Really? why? He looks like his father wouldn't have even been born in 1963, what possible value would he have. Drive around complete with shaky cameras, conspiratorial tones and say nothing of value. Come to conclusions that aren't supported, let alone make sense.........oh dear. A complete farce. Avoid at all costs and watch any Looney Toones cartoon for a more honest portrayal.

Endless repetition of non valuable information!
user-1033122 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The best of the show is it's promising title. It goes only down from there, way low! The show doesn't explain any historical events or refers to other movies about the subject, in order to harden or loosen old theories about the shooting. It just comes up with the believes of one guy, who worked once in the CIA or FBI and his believe, that Oswald would have had help from others, to do the shooting. He comes up with blames at the Sowiejet Union not stating or trying to explain, why they would like to shoot exactly JFK who is soft on communism and not any other president. Reading the other reviews, makes me glad not to be alone with my opinion about this show.

Yellow Journalism
deframj5 April 2020
Calling this show yellow journalism is too kind - it makes the assumption that it is journalism to begin with. It draws broad implications from loosely related facts. Beware how often the word "if" is used.

Blatantly Manipulative
gregr-7135219 February 2019
This show outright, purposely manipulates the information it presents to the viewers. It was interesting to start, and you can look past the sensationalism... but as the show goes on, it's impossible to watch. They distort, manipulate, and straight out lie countless times.

This is really sad to me, considering the History Channel use to have a good reputation. Now it's all outrageous counter-historical facts that dominate the Network. Shows like this and Ancient Aliens made just to increase ratings, with no regard to honesty or truth.

The kill shot
theonlytruefalcon7 May 2017
He claims Oswald was the ONLY gunman. How will he explain the video evidence that clearly shows that the instantly fatal shot obviously came from in FRONT of the limo. Indeed, it appears that the source was very low in the right front (Kennedy's head abruptly accelerates upward and leftward). It looks like the sewer was the place. This would require another shooter.

Reality TV disguised as history

Warning: Spoilers
Complete disaster. About 8 min of new information in the entire series dragged out with last time on,next time on, 4 min ago on...

Then some semi-plausible assumptions explained in bombastic terms based upon a very low amount of evidence. THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! Do you know Oswald attempted to shoot Gen Walker and went to Mexico?, um yes - it is in all 500 things I have seen/read about him.

What was there to organize ?
greatgerd8 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The only good thing I can say about this series was that the introduction told me all I needed to know about the content. The former CIA man states that Oswald must have had help to organize the assassination. What was there to organize ? The Presidential route took it past where he worked, he owned a rifle so all that was needed was to get himself to work together with the rifle, build the " sniper's nest " and hope nobody interrupted the proceedings.

For the remainder of the series I kept falling asleep which shows how riveting it was. However, I recall the part about him not staying in a tourist hotel in Mexico City because it would be be "easier to spot him there". According to the program he stayed in what are normally called down - market hotels as this is what " criminals and terrorists do ". So do people who, like Oswald don't have much money !!!

-"What's that over there? ", -"A bus stop".
gmc1-823-7588038 November 2020
One episode consists significantly of Bob Baer and chum "discovering" a bus route in suburban Dallas which they present as evidence (evidence just because it exists?) that Oswald would have taken it IF he hadn't decided to go to the film theatre instead.

This is presented as being pivotal evidence in bringing Bob Baer's team to solving the "riddle" of Oswald, which solution they present as the sheer conjecture Oswald had Cuban accomplices in the murder of JFK. Wait for it - exactly this kind of sheer speculation they call evidence TYPICAL and definitive of the series. There are no words for it.

Poor man. I nearly feel ashamed in reviewing this series at all because it draws attention to it, when it should never be watched or perhaps even mentioned.

It's very sad this was released at all and you should not watch it on any account. If you do, all you will be involved in is unsuppressible disbelief that is was given a release.

Bob Baer Bull $#!+!!! Do Not Watch!!!
AudioFileZ23 August 2022
I do not particularly feel a trust in Bob Baer. He is like an ultimate opportunist cloaking that with his credientials. Yeah, he was at one time an honest and forthright agent of the CIA Does that mean many years later he is that same moral upright man? Hell no. He's Colonel Parker Bob Baer, meaning the only thing guiding his core being is raking in the most money. Don't watch this. It's total disinformation and Bob Baer "ain't I great" BS/

Seriously?
sccgirl12238 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I thought I would get new info. This is old INFO dressed up in a dinner jacket with a lot of " no kidding " and " call me back immediately " thrown in. He believes the same old same old, he just doesn't want to admit it. We go down the Oswald plus one hole a lot. Then it's the k g b or the Cubans. No other choice but those. He doesn't ask the pointed questions, like how do those entities and make everything fall into place so perfectly. It is disappointing and disgusting to find just another figure head believing everything except what is true. They think, even now, that we the people can't handle and don't deserve the truth. Save yourself 47 minutes and just skip this.

Please tell me idiots like this didn't really work for our CIA
oliverkarp10 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Solved: it's obvious... There was a bullfight in Mexico City when Lee Harvey Oswald was there (allegedly visiting the Soviet Embassy), therefore the Russians were behind the assassination. This investigator's vast experience with criminals in Los Angeles and with Al Qaeda gives him enough insight on what it WOULD HAVE been like meeting with the Russians. Get ready to hear the words "COULD HAVE" and "WOULD HAVE" all day....

HI, Has anyone read her book, Lee & Me? Apparently she was the girlfriend of Lee in 1963. I'm not sure of the validity of it but it is a pretty interesting read. Maybe there is info in it that wasn't researched that could help with timelines and names.

Very disappointed
jftomcat22 August 2022
Doesn't review origional police video when police find more than 1 rifle behind boxes in same room he(possibly shot) from.

Does a mock shooting...however bullet enters low/center and comes out through front teeth (wrong location) & doesn't rule out ANY other directions by firing from front and or side of head. This would help give audience a better understanding of forensic anthropology.

(The reason to shoot the low & center area at the base of the skull/spine... so, when hit it will ensure a snap back result of the head.)

The shooting reenactment that they did... (with their forensic head) by NOT resulting in the head exploding as JFK's did...(lacking ANY damage) actually proved the shot from the rear COULD NOT be the only shot.

This was the WORST FAKE attempt at finding the truth I have yet to see.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

& Totally skips the police report of blood splatter on individuals & police bike.

Or The officers radio which actually recorded more than 1 shot (proven NOT to be an echo)

This is a fictional story set in motion to poorly push a 1, shooter/NO conspiracy...agenda.

While throwing a phantom hook out for possible others involvement periodically to keep you watching.

The ONLY reason I believe this guy is ex-CIA is because he was tasked with pushing ALL proof AWAY from CIA.

Even though at this point we already know there was more than 1 based on witnesses accounts of others on rooves including a description of one man's glasses (that's how well he was seen) & the money transfers to individuals That just happen to have been in Dallas that day and/or NOT identified as present in THEIR Towns/Cities that day.
