I want to like it

I liked it a bit at the beginning of the episode, but as the episode continued the conversations between some characters felt awkward and weird. I'm not sure but you can kind of feel the pointlessness of the episode a bit.

Opening to the Next Chapter
noalygh20 May 2018
It's been a year since the beautiful and tragic season 1, and now we are moving on to 4 months later. After the breakdown in season 1, all the characters are all sort of going back and take control of their lives when the Baker's lawsuit continues. That is why I have been raising my hopes high for season 2. It is still so amazing, thoughtful with good lines and outstanding acting performances. Wasn't enough to top season 1 but the first episode was a necessary and great setup for what's coming. I would love to see how the build up more in later episodes as some old characters hasn't come to the mix as well as new ones.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 2 started out unexpectedly in this episode - I was surprised that Clay was more than friends with Skye now. I liked how Clay approached Skye in the ending of season 1 to make new companionships - he knows Skye cuts herself. Skye becoming his girlfriend at the start of the new season jumped too quickly for me - it went from reaching out as a friend to a sudden new romance. Their make out scene was very, very hot and we can see Clay has worked out 💪. Clay regards Skye as his girlfriend and he wants to focus on his personal life which is a big change from Clay holding on the case tightly in season 1. The intentions of the characters are all twisted in this episode - you don't know who is "good" and who is "bad". There is a bit of nudity when Bryce injects the boy in the butt in the locker room. The guidance counsellor coming into the washroom to threaten Bryce was a bit unrealistic. In the eyes of the law no staff member should put their hands on a student and in Canada at least, staff should not be in the washrooms that are for students. Tony is seen at the end suspiciously burning letters with a lighter.

Emergence of Skye isn't helping
andrewkempf18 June 2018
I hate to single out a specific character but Skye just doesn't fit in well as a main character, let alone Clay's significant other. I just don't buy it and there's not much chemistry between the actors or the characters. I hope the upcoming episodes show more of Justin.

The First Polaroid (#2.1)
ComedyFan201022 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Several months passed and the trial is starting. Tyler is the first one to testify. Everyone seems to be worried about what is to come. Rumors about Jessica start and there are threatening signs to some of them.

I really liked the first season. But this episode makes me think that the second season is going to suck. The episode seemed kind of useless. It was over dramatic, dialogues were horrible. Hannah gets on my nerves now even more that she is a "ghost" in Clay's mind. I doubt the season will live up to the last one but I hope it won't be too bad.

The greatest ensemble piece I have ever seen.
somebody939498 June 2020
This show is beyond words in terms of how moving it can be. People will complain about how much it changes as it goes on, but change is good. The characters change and grow, so the show must grow along with them. It is a masterpiece.

Life is Strange
ilklucg23418 May 2018
The aftermath of the tapes has everyone on edge while strange polaroids start to show up.

I don't know where to start. There are some good things about this show and some bad things. But the most important thing, however, is that it should have just been one season. The first season ended perfectly, showed the aftermath, left just enough things open to interpretation so that it was bearable and a good ending to a show that had some pretty good episodes.

So the first problem this second season has is that it feels irrelevant. Hannahs story was told. We know everything we had to know. But now we see some more flashbacks that were not shown in the first season. Because they were A. not important enough to the story to show them then, and B. because they did not exist in the original story line of the show. This season premiere feels exactly like that. It is not bad, and it is entertaining for the most part, but it feels like an attempt to make more money since the first season was a big hit.

The second problem is that the show has a lot of awkward scenes. I don't know if its the actors, but they seem to do a fine job overall, so I do not think that this is it, but rather the writing. The writing is very exhausting at times when you attempt not to cringe at it.

Other than that, I really do not want to hate entirely on this show. Because I am positive that there will be good episodes again, as well as important messages. And I did like they had the actors give a message at the beginning of this episode that if you are dealing with mental health issues, you probably should skip this show for now and look for help. I really did enjoy that.

But I don't know. This episode just failed to grab me.

Please be Honest...
Jac2344322 May 2018
If you finished watching the show and are telling yourself that was incredible... you are either a really bad liar or got so invested in the first one that you decided to stay loyal. If you have never watched the show, do yourself a favor and only complete the first season.

This season was completely unnecessary, giving plotlines that were never introduced or even hinted at in the first season which to be honest feel like filler for lackluster episodes that fall tragically short from what was a groundbreaking first season. At least I thought it was groundbreaking.

There are so many issues I had trying to stomach this 1 year old leftover mayonnaise sandwich... yeah it was that bad. For instance, what was up with the constant cringy dialogue, the first episode was awfully written and the second had me skip to the fourth because I could deal with it no more. I watched the entire first season in one sitting, stayed up until 3:00am... honestly I got hooked and reeled in instantly. This second season threw back in the water... I think I'll stay there.

Do not recommend...

Why?
ranchi18 May 2018
I didn't like the first season very much and I ended up hate watching it. But it was okay. Now, however, I've watched 2 episodes of Season 2 and I'm actually recording 13 tapes and sending them to Netflix's HQ.

Why are there new flashbacks that randomly appear to magically create new storylines? Why is the writing so poor that makes me feel bad for the actors who have to deliver the lines but still somehow got the approval to make it into the episode? Why am I cringing over virtually every scene and so many of them feel unneeded? Why do the creators of the show think that audiences are stupid and will buy everything that is thrown at them? Why is there a second season when everything had been wrapped in the first one?

Because money.

In the golden age of television, when there is too many shows to choose from, I thank the creators of 13RW for making such an implausible and bad show. That's why I give it a 2 instead of a 1, because 13RW is one less decision to worry about.

Boring.
TibbyM19 May 2018
I wanted this to be better than the (mediocre at best) first season, but no. I felt like this episode was three hours long. Did they really needed to have 13 episodes? They could've done the same thing in 8 without making it feel so slow. The episode is 1 hour long, and nothing happens.

Warning: Spoilers
I wish they had just ended it on Season 1. This episode just shows they are desperately trying to milk this show for whatever it is worth. This is just the old story that was already told with new twists added to it, guess what? A new polaroid pops up out the blue, and a sudden new note..oh my..yawn.

Don't even watch
laurenofsteele22 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
After getting through the entire second season of 13RW, a show I have admired for well over a year now, I can say without question anyone who is reading this, do not keep watching the second season. It's not worth it and from beginning to end, you'll only be disappointed.

I honestly thought I was being too hard on the show when I started with the second season and right off the bat with Skye, I felt like this was a decision Clay Jensen just would not make. He would be friends with Skye, but would he actually date her? Nothing is wrong with Skye, but Clay should know better than to get too involved with someone who has the issues she has. If doesn't make sense.

Also, the Dexter feel of this season beginning with episode 1, it just falls flat. Dexter had Harry, his father who had adopted him, and it always bothered me how Dexter had these ongoing conversations with Harry, but at least the conversations weren't that public. Clay should be put in a straightjacket for as much as he speaks to Hannah during this season.

If you were a big fan of 13RW season 1, just don't continue to watch the second season. The first season was beautifully written and gives the viewer room to make their own interpretation, which is how the author of the novel wanted it for its readers.
