"Just a little of the human touch..." is all that we need in moments of pain or crisis, to let the fire within come out and alive, share the burden with
someone else or share the good feelings two souls have within themselves to make a unique powerful force. "Human Touch" deeply touches on so many levels that
it's hard not to feel its power and force as The Boss Springstreen sings his heart out - a fantastic composition for any occasion. Of all the many lyrics he
did over the decades this is his most touching and heartfelt, at least it appeals a great deal with me, and this video is also one of his best video moments
even though it's capturing a performance from the artist.
Street scenes at night, glamorous cinematography, showing common people and Bruce inside a streetcar, other times he's performing the song alone with his guitar or many close-up shots with the lighting providing great effects on his face. He doesn't need to tell a story to echo deeper feelings in this video; had been done that it'd be a little alien since the director would have to tell thousand stories or just stick into one romantic storyline. "Human Touch" deals about relationships but it can also talk about the need in having a friend, a lover, a total stranger who happens to be a good listener or share some hug. Like Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" it's a song of encouragement in finding the positive in a special someone in that world that seems to disintegrate with pain and loneliness. One needs a deeper connection, a deeper bond with someone to go through life without thinking everything's bad, worthless or pointless. Mr. Springsteen heats up with audiences and make us connect with ourselves in order to find out how important is the human touch. And some decades later, we are desperatly clinging to that human touch since technology brought us together in one way but made us separate in so many others that it's hard to form a connection and feel such human touch, everything's so mechanical.
Love the song and the clip, and even more the latter one since the song goes to a slightly longer lenght if compared to the radio version or ones found in music apps. It has a longer solo as Boss plays his guitar with full energy. Amazing! 10/10.
