Sex & Nudity

  • In episode two, a female character refers to a male's female-like name, by teasing him about embarrassing her for "calling out a girl's name in bed." This is the only instance of innuendo in the series.
  • Violet at one point lifts her shirt up and begins to change clothes in front of another male due to her lack of social awareness. Brief lower breast can be seen. However, there is no sensitive detail, and he quickly flees.
  • A female character frequently uses a middling lewd dress.
  • The only fanservice in this show is an adult woman who always wears an outfit that reveals some cleavage. The camera never lingers or focuses on this cleavage. The character also only appears once in a while in the show, so the frequency of this fanservice is rather low.
  • A young teenage princess, fourteen years old, is in love with a man in his twenties. He reciprocates her feelings. The show does not portray this as wrong and paints it as a romance.

Violence & Gore

  • References to a great war that preceded the events of the main story are sometimes accompanied with images of the war. Very brief and infrequent in nature.
  • Some moderate bloody violence occurs in a war setting, including dismembered limbs and pools of blood. These occur mostly in flashbacks, and once in the present.
  • Flashbacks of gilbert in a pool of his blood while talkingto violet (nothing too graphic.) Episode 8 I believe, is all about war and can be graphic at times, but overall it is a not a gorey show (its about writing letters, lol) yet it is a Masterpiece

Profanity

  • A few uses of damn, hell, and bastard.
  • For a TV-14 show, profanity is surprisingly rare.
  • Infrequent profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters are seen socially drinking.
  • Violet at one point writes a letter to an alcoholic man. She ends up hiding all of his alcohol from him so that he is able to give her the information she needs to write the letter for him.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In flashback scenes, lots of fighting is often shown along with blood. It isn't necessarily gore.
