Bad! ...*Really* bad!
rsvp3217 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched S1E01, and guarantee I'll not watch another.

First, there is no point to them doing this exercise.

Second, it's staged! No danger! They have put adult rats deep in an abandoned mine in a cheap attempt for a creep factor. Rats need water and food, and there was obviously neither where they were in this episode. You will not find rats purposely, permanently live deep in a mine where their eyes (chief survival sense)are useless. (Sewers have ambient light from manhole covers' holes, and rats easily venture from them for nearby food and water)

Third, as quickly discovered by blind humans centuries ago, a very useful tool for manoeuvring is a tapping cane (for the generic term). In this episode Bambi even carries a stick, but uses it like she's on a hike. To me, this would be the most obvious tool to first acquire, if these "experts" would shake their heads a bit.

Also, just try blind folding yourself and walking around your home after someone spins you to disorient you. You will naturally find yourself squatting and waving your hands all around and only inch forward like a crab trying to locate objects to avoid. In this show, they don't even duck (in a mine!), but just walk slow like they knew there was nothing to walk into or duck down from.

Several other clues that gives the fiction away, but I'll leave it for others to post.

*This show indicates the utter desperation networks are in, trying to come up with something new while exerting no real effort. Discovery Channel...you should be ashamed.

Would rather have root canal work than watch more of this

Boring to the extreme, hard to imagine someone was paid to come up with this show. Being filmed basically in the dark adds absolutely nothing to the show, in fact its a big turn off. Spend this TV hour watching something more worth while....

I love this new show on Discovery! Move over Naked & Afraid!

I've seen the first two episodes and trying to move around a 100% dark cave or mine looks absolutely terrifying. Cannot wait to see the next episodes when they air in 2018! Bring it on Discovery. I only wish I knew half of the skills that some of these survivalists knew. It's truly mind-blowing and makes me want to take a class or read some survival books!

Needs 10 stars to balance the idiot slating it.

It is a good show, very watchable. It is true that some intances do not naturally occur, maybe Critters were planted, etc, maybe not. They are stranded in utter darkness, which is plain to see, and they are genuinely there, sleeping, surviving etc. for days on end. there will be safety issues and interventions by the crew, i am sure at some quiet times they find a little light from here and there, off camera. A small led indicator light (example) will light up a pitch black area quite well, eyes adjust and get some vision. But for the most part, and what we see, are contestants clearly struggling in complete darkness for DAYS, condensed into an hour show. The mine episode was ok, but the cave episode was a GREAT WATCH! Naked and afraid - ish, but with clothes! (When is anyone ever stranded naked??) N&A would only get 9 from me, because of the N word lol.
