Breathtakingly simple, breathtakingly brilliant
colinwii13 November 2017
Coming into this movie I didn't have any high expectations, I watched this with a friend who's really into the whole parkour thing. But throughout the movie I found myself captured with the narration and feel of it all. We are presented with professional parkour team Storror and their adventures as they embark on a journey throughout Asia to find, so called, parkour locations. In the movie we get insight in these daredevils minds but also get to take part of the uncertainties and the overcoming of them. We follow the group through many different locations, and your ears and eyes are treated with amazing sound and filming. On a very limited budget I would say this is one of the most impressive works there is.

I strongly recommend you watch this, to get a more detailed description of just what it means to be in a movement such as Roof Culture, and perhaps also to be inspired, because I sure was.

A surprising and slick film with great character
tylerkom27 February 2021
I'm not a parkour person at all, but stumbled upon this film after a trek into the YouTube comments section. I gotta say that I was pleasantly surprised about the way the whole thing was put together.

It's edited very nicely, the colors are very cool, adding to the gritty atmosphere. The guys themselves are a bit corny, but you can tell they really feel passionately about this project. even though this project was just a small blip in the history of the world, the for the duration of the film, they make you feel as though it Matters with a capital M.

A nice entertaining look into the world of parkour, the film doesn't require a lot of attention while delivering on a lot of thrills.

"Roof Culture Asia is a celebration of Parkour"
Jordyboy9530 December 2021
This documentary is about overcoming obstacles, (not just the physical kind) before, during, and after performing Parkour. We see the behind the scenes of what it takes to perform and film Parkour videos similar to those often seen on YouTube. What we see in Storror is relentless dedication and perseverance through unfavourable odds to achieve a common goal: participate and elevate a sport they love and care about. Whilst performing (in the eyes of the general public) seemingly death defying feats, Storror struggle to overcome aggressive security, whilst navigating foreign social standards. Roof Culture Asia is a celebration of Parkour. Storror have successfully created one of the first Parkour documentary films ever. This is a must watch for freerunners and anyone who shares an interest in sport, psychology, and those videos you sometimes watch on YouTube.

A true look at parkour
kylemainsley13 May 2020
Obviously the stunts in this film are dangerous and should not be attempted by anyone, but these people are professionals. They know what they can and can't do and they are able to show their thought process to every stunt they do. This film shows features not only absolutely outstanding parkour, but also it features a real look into doing parkour. From scouting locations to talking to police and trying to not get in too much trouble with the authorities. While the film is similar to their videos on YouTube, it shows much more detail into the lifestyle of travelling to different countries doing parkour, not to mention the cinematography and insane stunts of the film.

Literally a feature length cliff hanger
martinclarke-3887316 February 2020
Need to see more of this elite team of parkour athletes. This was an epic watch and I'm hoping more Movies are made by these guys. The camera work is second to none and the intense interview footage only adds to the suspense of the action that follows. How much screen administered adrenaline can they pump through the screen into my shining eye balls? Buzzing, need more

Skyscraper jumping young men
Loveunderlaw27 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It was pretty interesting seeing these guys hitting Hong Kong, Tokyo & Seoul skyscraper rooftops with their Parkour moves. I was surprised how much the Chinese & Japanese authorities were hassling them though.

But with so many lawsuits these days, they really do have to crack down ASAP on these young guys sadly enough. South Korea had the most freedom for this Parkour crew.

Amazing skills, but If you have vertigo you may not want to watch this movie:)

Good Spirits

In the spirit of adventure, competes with some of the best snowboarding and climbing docs. Reminds me a bit of a cross between Man On Wire and The Art of Flight. Well, would have liked to have given it a shot myself, looks fun - highly unlikely these days though, I'm past my prime. DP and crew did well with such a small team to capture the footage they did, looks great. Really captures the essence of the sport and a glimpse into life in 3 top Asian cities.

What a documentary!!
thomas_van_ham12 July 2020
I have been following storror for the past few years. I think this documentary shows how their parkour skills and their mentality have developed in order to perfectly execute dangerous jumps across skyscrapers. The narration is also done perfectly to engage the viewer to the activities of the storror crew. Just as in the storror videos on YouTube it so nice to see the friendship between the guys and how this connection also enabled them to tackle the many challenges. I highly recommended this documentary to watch.

Moronic
stuartpauljames-4410511 March 2020
I usually enjoy extreme sports docs but this is terrible. Other than a few impressive stunts and pieces of footage, this is 95% morons doing moronic things, then talking about them in a moronic way.

Poorly produced with very little insight into the sport and zero intelligent conversation throughout. Not sure how old these guys are but it all just feels really juvenile.

I would imagine that the three 5 star reviews prior to this one are all from the team that made the film or their friends. Don't waste your time.

Brilliant

This is an excellent documentary. The photography is outstanding and it's cleverly filmed. The jumps were unbelievable! It's insanely dangerous what they do and should be Never be attempted by amateurs but they are professionals and they know their limits.

Entertaining but utterly tone deaf.
thisismatts1 October 2021
Nothing says 'white privilege' like a bunch of rich, well educated middle class blokes showing total disregard for the law of the land in Asia, running away from Police and winding up security guards like this movie.

Sick jumps though, Broseph.
