Goodies and baddies
jgkamunye-9188724 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I am really trying to like this show but while I am almost impressed the characters do something that disappoints.Anyway going to the point.. Goodies: +Frost sisters +Lorna scenes +Jace turners scenes +Andys scenes while doing whats needed to be done +Ending scene-Finally some mutants are willing to fight to survive unlike others who run yet they ve got the power to fight Baddies: _Lorna trying to stop andy scene -Thunderbird polaris and blink scene with doctor campbell. They run instead of fighting to survive -Boring and repetitive peptalk eg:"I should have stopped her/known and the other says "You couldnt have known" or the boring statement"The x men chose us for a reason" Gosh I hate this chats -One more thing.I dont know why the writers are hiding magnetos name. I just hope the writers become original in the second season or this show will lose track!!

Only just above average

So I've seen the first season, and read the reviews here. I understand a lot of the disappointment. The only way I can explain it on the plot side is that the perpetual back and forth and wishy-washyness is a throwback to one of the central themes in the X-Men comics: not the existence or nature of evil, which is a given, but how to face up to it, and how to confront it in ourselves.

This explains the tension we see on screen and the gradual splitting of the team once the Stepford Cuckoos show up, and is of course a throwback to the comics' tension between the divergent approaches of Charles Xavier and Magneto and their respective teams (although here we have a sort of neo-Brotherhood/neo-Hellfire Club hybrid).

Essentially it's a meditation on human nature in adversity, specifically, on pacifism versus militantism, with the government agencies as antagonists only there to bring the two approaches into sharper focus (both Agent Turner and Dr. Campbell have their own tragic backstories, so it's hard to see them as classic villains).

I don't think the writers did a particularly good job of making the theme clear, although there are obvious nods to ever-current themes of ostracism, prejudice, police violence, and distrust of government.

Some of the more established actors put in some solid performances despite an insipid script, and it's nice to see an ensemble cast portraying several recognisable mutants with decent VFX, but there's very little in the way of depth or nuance otherwise, and it's a shame.

the good & The bad
rorygunn28 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The good-The Frost sisters.Once again they make the point of why the mutants need to defend themselves against sentinel service..I know people still don't like it that they are manipulative but again if the MU had guts they wouldn't be in their predicament...I just wish they had done this towards the beginning of the show and stead of constantly doing a mutant version of Burn notice..

The Bad-The Struckers-so tired of them especially the mom being buzzkills..They still don't seem to understand that they're now involved in a fight..you can't whine and debate your way out of it..The Mutant Underground-If they spent this much time fighting Sentinel Services as they do opposing the Frosts and debating what they have to do then Polaris wouldn't have did what she did..She would still be with the team..Same with Andy although from the first episode I pegged his character right off the bat so his splitting wasn't a surprise. He was just ripe for recruitment by some militant group.I know we're supposed to side with the MU but they've have wussed out so many times it's hard to sympathize..Maybe if we saw the Underground win a few battles and maybe even save some humans from danger then their argument might have some merit but as it stands all they do is run..Hopefully they will step it up in Season Two and maybe even find a balance between the two philosophies but if they don't then no Season Three..

Goodbye
stratus_phere20 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
When I hear that boring slow music I know nothing good or interesting will happen for 10 minutes or so. When the action starts up again, it's still nothing you care to watch.

The bad guys say they are not taking prisoners. The stupid mutants say they don't want to hurt anybody. I'm beginning to root for the bad guys.

When the Strucker girl said, "We will do whatever it takes to protect these people," what she meant was, "as long as we don't actually hurt any of the bad guys." I'm thinking, come on people, you've got a whole building full of mutants! You could utterly destroy every molecule of every bad guy attacking you, but instead you run like little babies.

At the end they had the good guys (the strong mutants) split off and leave the widdle baby mutants who are scared of hurting anyone that tries to kill them. I'm sure the creators of the show want us to side with the weaklings. No one does.

Why am I watching this. Whatever, let's see if there's something better on. What am I thinking, of COURSE there's something better on.

Maybe all the weaklings will die and they will fire the writers and start over. Please oh please oh please...

Is no one seeing the loop hole which all of this could have been avoided?

Warning: Spoilers
It was SO obvious that I thought these both up as I was watching the finale episode. I am referring the scene when the plane began taxi. Lorna could have grounded the plane many ways using her ability. Then green eyes (Blink) could have made a portal for the team to go through. Eclipse then could have flash banged everyone on the plane while John gets Garret out with another portal. Done and done. So the previous was the worst plan which crossed my mind. And which I only pose due to the fact that the three sisters mysteriously missing after they drove Lorna to the air strip. WHERE IN THE FRAKK ARE THEY BTW?!?!?. The better plan would be Lorna freezing the planes flaps so it couldnt take off then Blink creating a portal for the sisters to get close enough to the plane and making everyone on the plane stand down mentally. That would allow Blink to then portal the others on to the plane and take who ever they want with out issue. Am I wrong?

It was So obvious that I thought both of these up during the short time I was watching the end scene when the plane began to taxi. Lorna could have grounded the plane many ways using her ability. Then green eyes (Blink) could have made a portal allowing Eclipse to flash bang people while John and the rest of the team got Garret out with another portal. Done and done. So that was the worst plan which I only pose due to the fact that the three sisters are mysteriously missing after they had just drove Lorna to the air strip. WHERE IN THE FRAKK ARE THEY BTW?!?!?. The simple plan would be Lorna freezing the planes flaps, since they are metal. so then wouldn't be able to take off. Then Blink could portal the sisters close to the plane so they could make everyone on the plane stand down mentally. That would allow Blink to then make a portal for the team to get on to the plane and take who ever they want, with out issue.
