If the first part was good, and gripping, then the second part is literally off the scale. The most gripping thing I've sat through since watching Line of Duty Series 3. Mercurio strikes again delivering shocks, twists, turns, and of course action. There is a relevance with this episode, which I found a little terrifying, the use of a van as a weapon, the apparent back biting and corruption that occurs at a high level, and the obvious favours for friends that goes on.

The complexity of relationship between David and the Home Secretary is what stands out most in this episode, I didn't see this panning out as it did. Everything I thought was going to happen now can't. It of course raises questions, number one being is the Home Secretary in danger, or is she the danger?

Superb production values, and a degree of acting that should gain awards, Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden are of course terrific, but a special mention for Gina McKee, I have a feeling she'll be a dark horse in this series.

Fabulous entertainment. 10/10

Yes! I thought the same.

Definitely in the mold of "Spooks" (called "MI-5" here in the states for some unknown reason). The plotting, the personal stories, the action scenes, of course, and the non-stop edge-of-your-seat stuff. I am up to Episode 2 - it's so good, I want it to last. Unfortunately, one of the review websites (not this one) gave out a couple of spoilers from subsequent episodes. BooHiss. But don't miss this one. You might need subtitles for a few of the actors' dialog, but one of the better series from across the pond.

Episode Two of Bodyguard is so well-done and magnificently-executed; it's gripping, thrilling, heart-wrenching and frightening. Watching it was a wonderful ride, and it's so good, I want to watch it again.

The unarguably main highlight of this episode is the assassination attempt scene, what an absolute marvel of a scene that is. I've rewatched it several times and it never failed to shock me and get me on the edge of my seat. Hats off to Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden for their impeccably fantastic acting, to Ruth Barrett and Ruskin Williamson for their great work on the suspenseful score, and last but not least, to Thomas Vincent for his stellar directing.

That was one of the best pieces of television I've ever seen. Gripping and tense. Twisted motives. Brilliant acting. Just wow! Can't wait for the rest of the series. And please we need a season 2!

Who Were Those Guys?

So our friendly neighborhood bodyguard has his kids face a possible terrorist attack. Because of his notoriety, he is put at a desk. But his overall competence and good judgment gets him back with the woman he was protecting. As they travel, there is an attempt on her life and he manages to keep her calm, remove her from danger, and go after the sniper. Apparently the length of the tentacles of whatever group there is must be quite extensive. The part I'm having trouble with is that he has sex with her. Of all things, this seems ludicrous when you consider what a dramatic set of events faced. It just seems way too unrealistic.

Episode 1.2

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1 of Bodyguard got a 28 days consolidated rating of over 14 million viewers. It is the highest first episode of a new drama on UK television in the 21st century.

Writer Jed Mercurio keeps up the tension with three big set pieces.

An attempted terrorist attack on a school as a truck packed with explosives heads for it. Worse for David Budd, it is a school that his children attend. Now his family have to be placed in safety as the police try to figure out if the school was deliberately targeted because of David.

The second big set piece was an attempt on the life of the Home Secretary by a sniper which leaves her long time driver dead. However David is again left conflicted as the shooter is someone he has dealt with in the past.

These terrorist actions increases Home Secretary Julia Montague's attempts to involve the security services role in domestic policing and pass more stringent legislation curtailing civil liberties. David is told that Julia is Machiavellian who is taking advantage of these events.

This all leads to a third set piece, the closeness between David and Julia after he saves her life.

Bodyguard shows that if you put a series out there that is entertaining enough, there is an audience for it. It might be unashamedly populist, outrageous, but it also has tension and thrills. In some ways after two episodes it is reminiscent of the series Spooks.

Even tho woke culture is strong on this one lol.

Ex wifey is annoying... the couple was not officially divorced but she is already banging another dude.. ex has ptsd and she could not care less.. similar to seal team show.. women simply demand the guy to open up like a woman and 0 empathy but dude still provides for the kid and gets him accepted to a special school.. ex wifey is ungrateful nonetheless..

i am not sure what the deal here is.. ikaris hates or does not hate secreaty lady? I am confused.. but let us keep watching it shall we.?

By the way, did not know he was Scottish lol.

Read some other reviews and guys thinking the show is pretty good but so far, i did not get what the main plot is actually.
