Nice Featurette

Discussing 'Charles Laughton Directs' (2014)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This fascinating featurette has film critic Leonard Maltin and THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER archivist Robert Gitt talking about the various outtake footage that was discovered for the film and eventually turned into the movie CHARLES LAUGHTON DIRECTS. This is a very entertaining featurette as Gitt does a terrific job talking about how he became a fan of THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER and then going into details about learning about the various bits of outtake footage that was out there. He talks about how funding was received for the restoration as well as what kind of job it was editing down all of the hours worth of footage. If you're interested in the film in question then you'll certainly love this chat as both men are full of great knowledge and there are some terrific stories told.
