Spoilers*
So first I just want to say this movie was so much better than heaven was. If you are not a fan of the books you will still capture some of the magic of this series. With that said the movie missed import things. For starters Troy's acting while it may be good for a normal role it was horrible for Troy. Troy is supposed to be withdrawn, battling depression and a fear of losing himself. Troy pictures his own death over and over and it gives him a depressing outlook on life that this actor frankly did not capture. Heaven is portrayed kind of forward (as a nice way to put it). Yes a person that has been emotionally abused tends to search for love and can be easily manipulated but from the begining with cal then Troy they make it seem like she's just jumping into bed with them when in the books her and Troy actually develop a trusting friendship before she falls in love with him. It's hard to capture in a short film but I still feel they could have shown more of him showing up to graduation and promising to find her siblings and her confiding in him about everything before throwing them into bed together. The girls at winterhaven were a let down. In the book they were extremely cruel and the scene with the dance they gave her laxatives and locked all the bathrooms forcing her to relieve herself in a waste basket instead of just her puking at the dance. I also wish they had added the scene with the laundry chute that heaven got her revenge by making the worst girl go down it and land in filth. But I understand some things have to be cut to fit in a movie. Jillian is way more how I pictured kitty acting towards heaven. Kitty was abusive to her where Jillian treated her with indiferance. Tony was over the top with how creepy he was to heaven in this movie. His advances really didn't start untill the next book. Troy's letter to heaven.. come on you really couldn't just have her read the same letter from the book. His heart breaking letter turned to a one line regret. Was a major let down and could have easily fit the full letter. Luke casteel. She met the new wife and son at their home. She did not want to see pa and pa certainly was not super fake happy to see her. They did not have that kind of exchange. He got his perfect look alike son but unfortantly lifetime gave him white hair and made him look nothing like pa. Last but not least this movie ended early. If they had used less commercials for filler time they would have been able to include the tragic circus scene where tom loses his life. So now it leaves you wondering if they will put it into the next book and if that means other key parts will be left out of that movie.
