This movie may be considered as Dark version of the movie Director special , most of philosophy is same . But this movie stands highlighting negative aspects in better way . Also the sad climax is also much better than the Director special.

Also most of scenes are comparable , as Rangayana Raghu plays father role is both the movies .

Great cinematography 10/10 for it . If not watched Director special you will feel this movie is one of the best movie in recent times.

Maybe even Director special was also inspired by the book /play this was based .So no complaints , it is a worth watch movie.

1. The editing is tight. Though 2 songs seems unnecessary, it doesn't bore viewers. 2. The script is wonderful. The trust in the end is the highlight. Dayal has done a great job. Things seems odd and out of place, but when you see the climax everything falls in place. 3. The songs are bad. I didn't like them. Director should've done away with them.

Wow... What a Movie It's Extraordinary Movie Story Was Superb & Directing Unbelievable... Masterpiece Of the year!......

This movie is a based on a Kannada play. The story is set in a village in the 1980s. Chennakeshava, a wanderer comes to this village and seeks shelter for one night from a poor family. What happens that one night when he stays there is what the movie is all about. The direction is outstanding and all the actors have contributed very well to the film. This movie showcases what greed, lust and desire leads to and will keep you glued till the end with an emotional climax. These kind of movies are very hard to find and one shouldn't miss this movie which is probably one of the best movies of this year!

Wonderful piece of art! Expected a good movie but turned out to be mind blowing!! Anupama deserves state award for this! Dialogs, camerawork, BGM and acting by everyone is too good!! Special word of praise for dayal... Off late, his choice of movie is fantastic!! Keep up the good work you are doing!

All Kannadigas and who understands Kannada should (must) watch Aa Karaala Ratri. A 20 minutes Kannada play is now made as a feature film. Brilliant cinematography and background score gives life to the entire movie. Editor blended images and sounds to make us feel emotionally connected to the film. One of the best narration by the director. Jk, Anupama, Veena sundar and Rangayana Raghu are main pillars of the movie. Want to end my review by saying "earth provides enough to satisfy man's need, but not every man's greed ~~ Mahatma Gandhi" you will understand this quotes after watching the climax of this movie.

Despite having an amazing plot twist it still remain an average film. 6/10 is the best it could deserve.

A very well written and well made thriller and suspense drama. A perfect cast and absolutely wonderful acting. At 1 hour 40 minutes it's a no nonsense film. The film gets straight to the story from the beginning. As it is based on a play, the film has a concrete grip on the story.

But as "all's well that end's well" goes, there comes the problem. The stranger character that arrives to this little house of a poor family, trying to be polite and helpful seems dangerous and makes one think what is his motive but when you do witness the climax, it doesn't seem logically right for such a character to do what he did, that is 'waste time'.

Aa karaala ratri (Ghatak ratri) is the gem of a film of Kannada film industry. I was searching it and I found this movie and let's try I seem but what a film.A simple story but with very emotional twist at end.Everyone should watch this film.

It's a story of one day, one night, one family, one home, and one stranger. The story is about fortune, greed, and tragedy. Perfect casting. Almost a perfect story. Almost perfect direction. A slight loop hole in story telling. Otherwise one of the finest cinemas. If I tell more about the weakness it will be spoiled the story.

********Spoiler Alert******** ********Spoiler Alert******** ********Spoiler Alert******** ********Spoiler Alert******** The girl said her mother while coming back home from a late-night program, said, if her father and mother would have tried she had another brother or sister to talk to and passing time with him or her. She is alone. She has no brother, sister. But in reality, she has a brother who ran away long ago when they both were at the age of 8-12. Why does she not mention this point to her mother? Why does she not repent about his brother's ran away?

When the blind man was walking at the night the drunk father cycling and got off from the cycle to the ground. But strangely the blind man didn't notice it.

When the father calling the dead body as their son's name, why the mother does not get shocked and asked several times to her husband that, "why you are calling him our son? Is he really our son?" But the mother also starts crying with him, the daughter also. No one asked but be assured about his identity. When they got burned with their home, the villagers even don't try to put out the fire, no one tried to water in the fire.

There are some other silly points which also be overlooked. If the director was more serious and thorough about the making.

Good story but worst direction. Good background music but worst songs. Film is not upto the mark.

An excellent movie!! The actress Anupama leaves you in awe with her awesome performance. She sure deserves an award. Rest of the actors deserve nothing less too. The screenplay keeps you hooked till the end. The stroytelling doesn't lose pace at any point. The climax sure makes you get into an introspection of yourself. Hope they're all rewarded!!

A good movie in Kannada cinema in recent days. It is really an award winning performance by Anupama Gowda. Jk' performance is extraordinary. rangayana Raghu and veena Sundar rock the show. very good supporting role. cinematography and background score is brilliant here. Story is the hero of this film. a must movie for all Kannadigas.hatsoff Dayal Padmanabhan.

I am both happy and sad after watching this movie. The reason for happiness was Naveen Krishna. He is my dream-man. An epitome of ruggedness and cuteness at the same time. I was really hoping some hot scenes with Naveen. Rest actors were all good. Though, the sutle erotic remark made by the actress to the other tarzan actor was unnecessary. The story reminds me of those we all have read in Chandamama comics or Panchtantra or Jataka tales etc. The only part that eludes me was that why the hell that tarzan actor flaunted his money gold etc. to that poor family.

A clean story and an awesome direction. This is One of the best directed Kannada movies.

Its not a 8 rated movie. after watching you will be sure about that

Worth a watch, no second thoughts. Awesome movie, very simple and nicely written script with very good acting from all the cast. Such films needs to be made and should be appreciated.

Should have been a short film of 15-20 mins. Unnecessarily dragged the story for 1 hour 38 mins. Idiot movie.

Must watch..Superb story line... A tale of poverty n greed... Good n bad...

Hats off to the director and team of technicians for this film.

The whole storytelling keeps you interested and curious as to what is going to happen next. All the actors have done a great job and were super convincing in portraying the characters.
