Kill the Messenger

Warning: Spoilers
This was another solid episode of the show, while not as good as the pilot, it is the kind of summer drama cable has been missing out on for a few years.

I just can't stand the Beth character. Poorly cast, and she doesn't really fit in with the setting and the format.

Decent episode

Warning: Spoilers
Not as good as the pilot but worth watching til the end. The daughter as others have mentioned ad nauseam could be completely cut from the story with no script changes and nothing would have changed. That's called shoehorning a character.

The only problem with this episode is believing the suicide bit, so just because he's a junkie who smokes formaldehyde the doctor is at peace with suicide by murder? All he needed from life was summed up in that scene? That's just lazy writing.

Fortunately that's not all that's going on and so far the main story arc is still good.

Strong performances overshadowed by overacting in intense family drama.
Screen_Maven21 December 2022
I would rate the first two episodes of Yellowstone a 6,5 out of 10. While the series has an interesting concept and follows the lives of the Dutton family, who own and operate the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, I found the execution to be somewhat lacking.

One issue I had with the show was the overacting of Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton. While I understand that the character is supposed to be intense and strong-willed, I felt that Reilly's performance was a bit too exaggerated at times. This may be due to the script, the character's personality, or the direction from the director, but it detracted from my enjoyment of the show.

The score for the series, which includes a theme that sounds similar to the 1969 hit single "Sympathy" by Rare Bird, is a nice touch and adds to the drama and tension of the show. This doesn't help to make up for my issues with the acting and the overall execution of the series.

Overall, while I can see the potential in Yellowstone, and the good acting of Kevin Costner, the first two episodes didn't fully deliver for me. It may still be worth checking out for fans of family dramas and intense, character-driven stories, but I would approach it with some caution.

Kill the Messenger

Warning: Spoilers
The second episode takes place after the botched cattle shootout.

John Dutton knows he has been played by Thomas Rainwater and there was maybe a third shooter sent in by someone.

John has to rely on his enforcer Rip Wheeler to get some dirty jobs done to try and straighten things out.

While the Duttons try to band together to save face. Kayce has to make a life or death decision.

Once again this is just Dallas in Montana. I wonder if John Dutton can answer Rainwater's question. Just how did his family acquire land larger than Rhode Island?

It was bizarre why Kayce had to shoot a man to put him out of his misery after that meth lab exploded. It was bound to lead to more issues, he could had just smothered him.

Pointless animal violence
meyersjl-959-17933630 April 2022
This episode contains several different scenes with animal violence that serves no purpose towards the plot. Any average writer would've chosen something that moved the plot forward or added character growth.

Can't hear a frigging thing!

Such beautiful landscape and the worst audio on television. All that doesn't need closed captioning are the livestock and the shooting. Hope it gets better but I won't be watching.

Latest news from the auto world

Here are some trends from the Midwest. Good guys drive pickups. You can be a screwup without money and drive an old pickup truck, or a billionnaire with a brand new pickup truck, but pickup truck is a must. Good people who have "lost their way" and "city friends" of the protagonist drive expensive American SUVs. All bad people drive (GASP) foreign SUVs. You can tell them by their satanic Range Rover Sport's. And finally, crazy daughters ride in Mercedes S-Class, the epitome of deranged mind. Next up: cattle prices.

Boring, heavy.

This episode is really slow, heavy and boring. Also doesn't explain clearly how they cover the problem of a third shooter with the cremation.
