The upcoming Apple TV+ competition series “My Kind of Country,” executive-produced by Kacey Musgraves and Reese Witherspoon, is not just going to be a genre-specific knockoff of “American Idol” or “The Voice,” it’s clear from a first trailer released Friday. Fostering inclusiveness of every sort looks to be as high on the agenda as finding unknown talent, as is made apparent not just from the YouTube teaser but the previously known trio of celebrity talent scouts — Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton and Orville Peck — plus a just-released rundown of the dozen competing aspirants.
“The people that i love in country music, they don’t look like me,” one contestant, Camille Parker, a Black woman from North Carolina, is seen as saying. “I’m ready to show people what they’ve been missing.”

Apple TV+’s new music competition series “My Kind of Country” aims to change the perception of country music in a big way — and you can see a bit of that for yourself in the show’s trailer. Watch it at the top of the page, right now.
From executive producers Reese Witherspoon and country music star Kacey Musgraves, “My Kind of Country” features musicians from around the world who’ve been invited to Nashville, where they’ll compete to win what Apple TV+ vaguely refers to as “a life-changing experience from Apple, including global exposure across the Apple TV+ and Apple Music platforms.”
The series, Witherspoon says in the trailer, was conceived of while she and Musgraves were “talking about how country music should stop limiting people, and start opening doors.” And as part of that, the contestants will be mentored by three stars who themselves don’t fit...

Mubi's series The Inimitable Image: An Amit Dutta Retrospective is showing summer and autumn 2020 in India.Above: NainsukhBlinking is a matter of rhythm, and so is staring—rhythms perhaps more crucial to cinema than to any other medium. By withholding perspective, or by rendering it immobile, blinking and staring introduce duration to a cinematic frame, allowing the camera to grasp the very tactile rhythm of its own gaze and that of its object. Amit Dutta’s is a cinema that is built around such rhythms, around the purely ocular movement of the eye, where gazing is everything—it is the source of both meaning in the story and of truth, if there is one. The rhythm of his cinema alternates between rapid disturbances, like in the tilt of a head, and long stretches of stillness where a landscape, such as sloping mountain road, is introduced even before it is inhabited by characters.

The very first time that I spoke to Sushant it was after I saw him steal the show in Kai Po Che. I saw a special spark there and I congratulated him. I also reminded him that I had messaged him after seeing him on Nach Baliye (or whatever the dance show was). Contrary to the claims being made by Ekta Kapoor about her “dear Sushi” being discovered on her show Pavitra Rishta, Sushant journey as an actor began for me with his display of dynamic dancing on Nach Baliye.
I reminded him of the unanswered text. And Sushant’s response was classic. “I though the text message was a hoax. Why would you congratulate a Nach Baliye contestant?”
Why, indeed!
For the same reason that I congratulated him for each of his big-screen performances, Kai Po Che (2013), Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015), M S Dhoni:The Untold Story (2016), Kedarnath (2018), Sonchiriya (2019) and my...

Bhumi Pednekar, who has three films lined up for release, says she craves for versatility as an actress. She will be seen in "Saand Ki Aankh", "Bala" and "Pati Patni Aur Woh" in the coming months.
"I crave for versatility as an actor and my next three films will showcase my diversity of choosing films. All three are incredible scripts and are films that are close to my heart. Interestingly 'Saand Ki Aankh' and 'Bala' have an important message that will touch the hearts of audiences because of the social commentary present in the scripts. 'Pati, Patni Aur Woh' is a superb script that will stand out," Bhumi said.
Ever since her debut in 2015 with "Dum Laga Ke Haisha", Bhumi has been seen in films as different as chalk and cheese.
She was seen in movies like "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha", "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan", "Lust Stories...

The sparkling female stars of Alankrita Shrivastava’s “Dolly Kitty and Those Twinkling Stars,” produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, have plenty going on in their careers.
Bhumi Pednekar has had a very brief career so far, but she has made each role count. She made her debut in 2015’s “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” as an overweight housewife dealing with an arranged marriage, and went on to star in 2017’s “Toilet – Ek Prem Katha” where she refuses to defecate in the fields and demands a toilet at home.
Also in 2017, she starred in “Shubh Mangal Savdhan” where she played a bride whose groom suffers from erectile dysfunction, while in 2018 Netflix Original anthology film “Lust Stories” she plays a maid in a sexual relationship with a bachelor, who suffers silently when his parents seek an arranged marriage for him. In 2019 bandit drama “Sonchiriya” she plays a strong-willed woman who braves...

Abhishek’s association with Vishal is a long one, in fact he assisted Bhardawaj in multiple films such as Omkara and Maqbool. Sonchiriya hit screens this Friday, and Vishal can’t stop praising the director.
“To make Omkara as a western-genre film, was Abhishek’s idea and 12 years later, he has taken it a different level with Sonchiriya. I think it’s a very mature film and the performances are nuanced,” says Vishal.
He adds, “As a director, he has grown by many folds since Ishiqiya. His command over his craft has always been visible. Sonchiriya is the testament of how secure as a director and a storyteller is Abhishek. I m very proud of him !” He says.

The most unique feature of Sonchiriya
From Birju in Mother India (1957), to Gabbar in Sholay (1975) to Phoolan Devi in Bandit Queen (1994) to Paan Singh Tomar in 2012, Bandits/dacoits have been a constant reminder of the people in the Chambal ravines and their struggles.
