I love this show, but this season they brought up Southside like 100 times. It started to get a little cringe worthy. Who decided to keep having fiona talk about the southside. This sounds childish but when you watch it, you'll understand.

Emmy Rossum is still a great actress, but I am just not buying her performance as much as I did in past years. it just seems like she is phoning in the insane dialogue a bit when she used to be able to sell any absurd kind of line.
Some of the storylines this season just aren't working as well. Overall, I'd call this kind of a mediocre episode.

The fun and funny parts of the show get old after awhile so it starts to get pretty slow. Frank is sobering up and acting more like a human so we now are supposed to laugh a Fiona getting smashed. I was a functioning alcoholic for years so laughing at illnesses gets not to funny. The political items need to be in there when the biggest joke was the person that was in the Whitehouse at the time.
The writing and directing is just terrible this season

I'm sorry. I was so loyal to this show when it was funny but it got way too political and the acting feels likes a corporate training video on diversity - how to act and not to act. The soundtrack and any scene with Kevin, Carl, and Lip are what keeps the show going.

I've been watching this show from the get go. It used to be funny, but now it's just PCness and more of that.. Seems like the show has gone to gutter.. Nothing wrong with the cast, but the writing and political theme is just s... to watch,

I thought season 8 was bad but this one is just pure crap! Political correctness all the way it makes me want to puke. I don't like Debbie and Lip but now Fiona is just unbearable! Accusing everybody of being racist or sexist and the list goes on and we're supposed to root for her? No go away, i know you will and maybe it's a plan to make the viewers dislike her but i don't think so, but if it is it's working!

I was a lover and advocate for this show from day one and recommended it to everyone I knew.
Now - I'm just ready for you to rip off the band-aid and be done.
Fiona was always fierce and loyal when it came to her family but now she is the sinker of the ship. If she wanted to go - you should have just cut her loose as opposed to bringing the whole fleet down with her.
Lip steps up - thankfully.
Debbie - Debs - has go to be the most annoying character on TV. On any show. Ever. Really?!??!
Revisit the first 3 seasons and try to revive that badassness or this girl and her posse are out.

They want you to feel sorry for her but I absolutely hate her.

My boyfriend and I have been binging this show for the last two weeks and we are up to season 9.
What the heck has happened to this show? It's ridiculously boring to watch now, the script and the characters are so unlike who they were earlier on. I find it hilarious how annoying I feel about a TV show but it's to the point where I'm cringing whilst watching it now and literally thinking if I should just stick to watching Friends on repeat.
Wish they brought the old stuff back.

I concur with her evaluation. I'm getting tired of the non-stop PSA commercials warning against illegal immigration; I am tired of all the white women acquiring ONLY the token men of color; I am tired of Asian women only getting work as lesbians in television: I can lay bets as to when the fertility doctor is going to announce her coming out of the closet.
I'm not a lesbian, I am a legal immigrant...stereotyping has gotten worse since 2016. NOT better!! TV is proving it.
