6.75/10 A meh for me, at least for now
tztiagozadra-0130111 August 2019
I loved the first two parts but I'm not quite sure if I'm gonna like this 3rd part.

First of all: The Good. The acting, the cinematography and the ending of the episode were all great! Fantastic. It was pretty entertaining as well, for the most part.

Second: The Meh. Not quite sure how to feel about the beginning of the episode, the character they brought back was super annoying the whole first and second part but was a good character although I would've preferred if they hadn't brought him back. Also wasn't a big fan of what caused the story balance's rupture.

Last but not least: The Bad. I did not like how it was basically part 1 all over again and just the premise itself was bad, it was useless, personally if this doesn't get better later, I'll have to say that they should've ended the show after part 2.

Overall: Performances - Perfect Cinematography - Perfect Premise - Garbage Execution - Poor Entertainment - Ok

All you wannabe critics with these low ratings can never be pleased
Top_Dawg_Critic17 April 2020
If it was the same type of atmosphere and systematic heist, you'd all be complaining "we've already seen it" etc. This is one hell of an entrance to the thrills and chills we loved from the first season, and the bonus is we get to see the characters we all fell in love with - plus a few new ones, pulling off -yes, another heist, but for different reasons. Brilliant! Add the fact that Netflix threw more money in for the 2nd season for obviously better sets and locales, and the fun starts all over again. Once again, top notch writing, and outstanding directing an cinematography. Satisfying, but rushed
Willoboy26 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to start off by saying that I loved the first two parts of "La Casa De Papel". The story felt intriguing, the characters all had distinguished personalities, and the plot had very few boring spots.

With this in mind, I was satisfied with the cliché, Hollywood-esque finale of part 2, where the main character meets with a former enemy, in a lush tropical cocktail bar. It felt like it had come full circle: the plan was set, executed, and had come to an end. After finishing part 2, I had selfishly hoped that there would be no part 3, for the same reason Breaking Bad, arguably one of the greatest TV shows in recent memory, only had 5 seasons: so it wouldn't become one of those "Oh is it still running? I used to love that show" type of series. In other words, from fear of saturation. And, in my opinion, rightfully so. Breaking Bad had left me with a hole in my stomach thinking "This is it?" when the final credits rolled. That is the mark of a great show, and I had genuinely hoped that "La Casa De Papel" would be brave enough to put an end to the fantastic series, and to fight against what today is more evident than ever: continuing a series just for the money. Returning to my Breaking Bad comparison, read any interview with Vince Gilligan about the length of his show, every time he'll say that the production company pushed for more seasons, reason being "it had just started to make money".

Ranting over, when I had found out that "La Casa De Papel" was getting a 3rd part in 2019, I had very mixed feelings. On the one hand, I would have loved to see Il Professor and the gang some more, but on the other, I was happy with the ending part 2 had offered, and felt there was little wiggle room for a possible third installment.

So July rolls around and I'm none the wiser, I hear from a friend that part 3 is out. Excited, I watch a few recaps, and when I feel that I was fully prepared and in the know for the continuation, I put on S3E1: "We're Back". 50 minutes later, I'm sitting on the couch sporting an ear-to-ear grin, thinking "THIS is classic Professor".

Long story short, I was satisfied by the direction taken in order to continue the story, but had a few minor gripes regarding the first episode, which prompted me towards the 8 I awarded it. I was relieved that it wasn't a prequel to the first two parts, describing each character's backstory, or something along those lines, for that was a worry I had previously had. This was a pure, simple and plain "what happens after we win" scenario, which, in my mind, worked perfectly, especially fitting the character mold created by a rebellious and reckless Tokyo in the previous seasons. As always, I am annoyed by the sheer stupidity caused by the double trouble couple of Rio and Tokyo, but understand that it's a typical behaviour for the type of character portrayed by her.

Another issue I had with the first episode was the fact that it felt like it would never end. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't hoping it would finish due to boredom or such, but instead I felt like what was otherwise presented to us in one episode, could have easily been made into 2 parts (episodes). A cut when Tokyo meets The Professor again, or after his flashback with Berlin. I felt like it absolutely had to end with the uncovering of the National Bank of Spain replica model, paralleling beautifully the unveiling of the Royal Mint of Spain model from the first ever episode, a truly goosebump inducing, deja-vu moment. But no, the episode continued so far as to actually show them flying their blimp over Spain and "bombing" people with 140 million euros. It was a ravishing scene, coupled with Alvaro Morte's soothing, yet skin crawling-ly clever narration in the background.

One thing I had loved about the first couple of seasons was the somewhat unpredictable plot twists during the heist, making the audience, and the police, believe that the robbers would be trapped in a corner, only to reveal an array of hidden trapdoors, that the Professor had laid out years prior, anticipating nearly every possible scenario. S3 is no different. A grand plan to rob 90 tons of national gold through a seemingly impossible plan, carried out by an apperantly amateur team, fact underlined by Rio's capture and subsequent torture.

All in all, I'm left pleasantly surprised by the direction season 3 is taking, but I felt that perhaps the first episode was a bit too jam-packed with too much action. I'll have to wait and see how the rest unfolds, clenching my teeth at every bad turn as usual.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first ever review on IMDb, and I hope that my point of view is not too polarising towards yours.

Professor and his team is back !!
krrajesh19 July 2019
It is happy to see them together again, but now it is to save one of them. The gathering was quite emotional, as Rio is not with them. The memories of Berlin made me sad at a point. Even though, I'm happy to see them back in action and it looks like they are going for something really big this time.

Perfect start for the season
bolaromel19 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it's the perfect start for the season. I was concerned about two things: what is the point of the new season and weather that point would be valid or not.

The reunion of the group was based on valid matters, and each member represented this matter from his/her prospective very logically.

I loved the Tokyo-Professor scene, and also the Tokyo-Rachel scene. I loved Denver and his speech about his son.

It would have been a 10 if only we had more time checking out what happened to each one of them at the last couple of years. The episode didn't represent it very well though, but I hope the following episodes will.

Also when I saw the trailer I was concerned about the come back of Berlin, but thank god he is not alive and this happened 5 years ago.

Writing department- step it up
BruceWayne38 October 2021
It gets a little old when I'm every episode the characters point their guns at each other in order to get their points across. Bad writing. Think of some new ideas.

Great come back.
fadimerhej19 July 2019
But I hate to see someone who survived a heist to become popular and all the people like him, besides that we have seen this kind of stuff on other movies or shows.

Pointless
martaveri20 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The whole new story isn't sustainable itself.. why should the Professor, after everything that happened, still care about adults which keep messing around like freaking teenagers (Tokyo and Rio)? Just enjoy the money you did and go on with your life! Why risking life once again? Useless, weak, third season

9.3 and I give 10 ¿why?
jeanfps19 July 2019
I have to put 10 because this show deserves at least 9.3 in general. Episode number one maintains a logical relationship with past seasons and a good development of the initial plot regardless of the reason they took to start it. The others episodes was good too obviously not perfect, nothing it is.

It's TV not real life
ethanlw-1460322 July 2019
Amazing start to the new season and on high alert the whole episode. Great locations, loads of colour and most importantly excellent link to past seasons while helping develop the storyline in to this season by the episodes end. For those questioning the reasoning why they help each and how stupid the season is, it's Tv not real life. You may not want to do the things they are if it were you but it just doesn't work like that. If they want to help each other, they can and they will without having to give much reason for people's questioning. Gutted there's only 8 eps so gonna have to spread them out, too good to binge watch.

Money Heist
stephen-713535 March 2020
The Money Heist is a series on Netflix. The actors are amazing and the cinematography is excellent and the music is very good. The series doesn't have any bad parts or weak points. My conclusion is that it's very good series, and lots of fun.

I knew it

Warning: Spoilers
"La casa de papel" was an excellent TV show, it's been thought to end with the second season and it would have been a good product, not at BB's levels maybe, but a very good one. Despite the plot anomalies (Tokyo was practically useless the entire show, just a plot device; the inspector who became a thief in 2 episodes... and so on) i really appreciated it, and, i admit, i binge watched the first two seasons.

But now it doesn't make sense. The plot device did it again, and the idiot Rio has been caught (really? The whole world is searching you and you trust to an illegal seller of crypted phones? LoL). Until that, it's not so weird. But the others member of the heist who had known him years before for just 5 months, who blame him and Tokyo (rightfully) for a big percentage of the problems which popped up during the heist, that just leave all (money, new life after a no-escape situation...) to SAVE him? The inspector, who reached the Professor to start a new life in Thailand (and that's plausible), that jeopardize herself, her DAUGHTER and her mother to save an unknown idiot who got caught and is being held somewhere? It's totally nonsense, sometimes cringe to watch. That's enough to say a big nope to the entire season. There are maybe excellent episodes in this season, yes, but Netflix just wanted to to its personal money heist, forcing a TV series wide over its limit of plausibility.

My advice is to stop watching after the season 2: a flawed but unique TV product is much better than a totally unrealistic and forced prosecution. And they are planning a season 4, sure. Maybe there the inspector will sell one of her daughter's kidney to buy a new laptop for Rio.

Not only pointless, cringeworthy as well
SofiCastle20 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show's most annoying characters, Rio and the obnoxious Tokyo, manage to make a complete mess once again. So of course everyone is ready to sacrifice money and possibly freedom and life to help them out. Including former incompetent police detective Raquel, who is now Lisboa and does not see anything wrong in jeopardising her daughter and mother (my God, the cringe). I can understand she fell in love and decided to give everything up and start a new life in a tropical paradise with her extremely rich lover, but actually plan and participate in a robbery? After being a cop and (supposedly) a good one at that? Because that is the plan: steal the gold reserves in the Bank of Spain, which will somehow convince the authorities to set Rio free - Rio that we are told over and over (hypothetical descriptions included) is being tortured (cringe again). To do that, they take up a plan the late Berlin had initially put together but had been correctly discarded by the Professor because of its sheer idiocy. Not to mention that Berlin had come up with it in a chapel turned living quarters in a Cistercian monastery (cringe or what). Not to mention said living quarters are covered in artifacts and art items and strongly resembles to what might have been a captain's cabin upon a pirate ship in a Disney film. One could not help but wish that that sociopath that was Berlin were still around to put some sense into their heads. Or maybe Berlin would be thrilled with such a crazy plan, being mentally unstable as he was, but at least he could put some style to it. Oh, and Arturito is now something like a self improvement guru of sorts. No joking. That was a scene one would expect in a US show, but maybe Spain is not immune to this kind of charlatans either. I will watch ep2 just in case the heist makes up for the stupidity the scriptwriters have made me watch, but it can never change the fact that this show should have stopped when the got out safe.

Stupid
ntina02119 July 2019
I feel like I'm rewatching the first season. This show should have ended the way it did in season 2. No reason for more episodes, since the writers are undoubtfully out of ideas. Stop ruining tv-series in the name of money!
