Scary, but ...

The first half is outstanding, but it's conclusion was too rushed, too preachy and a bit too improbable. An interesting lead-in to Season 5, though.

THOUGHT PROVOKING

This episode was one of the finest things that I've experienced on television. Thought provoking as we realize just how fragile on relationships in this world are. It reminded me of the film FAIL SAFE and just how easy it would be to destroy our world. Its frightening to think of those in power who have the ability to destroy with the press of a button. North Korea, Russia, Iran, U.S.. MADAME SECRETARY is very enlightening in how challenging serving our country can be and this particular episode explored a deep subject in a thought provoking manor.

Television at its very best! Rivetingly engaging.

Amazingly excellent. Kudos to the creators for their creativity, commitment and courage in presenting a really big issue at a humanly engaging scale.

Note that in the 1979 incident alluded to in the show, the US came within 14 minutes of a catastrophic nuclear war due to a scenario like the one portrayed, and again in 1980 due to the failure of a 46 cent computer chip. Unfortunately, according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, this sort of risk is greater today than ever. Let's hope that this programme inspires good diplomacy and political action.
