An overall great build up episode with some amazing fight sequences
Holt34422 March 2019
It's an overall great episode were they introduce one main Batman villain and one other important character, Bane and Nyssa Al Ghul. I did find the story with Bane was great but the only part of the episode that was lacking was the Barbara scenes, in my opinion just bad writing. But the Bane scenes and Leslie scenes made up for the Barbara stuff. This was a hyped up episode and it didn't let up with my expectations but there is two more, two episodes that will possibly be jaw dropping. Bane is as terrifying as he should be, using some brutal fighting moves and doing things I didn't really expected him to do, Shane West did an incredible performance, just perfect. The choreography and editing was on point but some acting and cgi was disappointing. It's nothing wow but it's a great episode that leaves us satisfied to see the show's end.

The Bane of Gotham: Retcon 3.0 (and other critique)
barlebovitz24 March 2019
I will admit I was skeptical I heard that Shane West would play Bane in Season 5 of Gotham. With the first appearance in this episode I am pretty impressed. In the past, Bane was often portrayed as over-the-top buff guy with a luchadora-type mask with tubes strapped to him that fed the venom drug into his system. When Dark Knight Rises came out in 2012, it departed from that character portrayal, showing audiences a guy who was strong, but not through a super-drug. With this iteration of Bane in Gotham you have the venom drug in play, but how Bane looks gives off a cybernetic-enhancement feel (like General Grievous and Darth Vader). Plus the voice definitely is inspired by Tom Hardy's performance. If anybody asks me whether Tom Hardy or Shane West is the better Bane, I'd say it's not a competition. While both have similar roles (being a part of the League of Assassins/Shadows) they both developed in different ways. Gotham's iteration of Bane is the latest in the DC Universe, with surly more to come.

Now to Nyssa Al Ghul. With her reveal in this episode was a surprise to me. I first assumed it would be an Amanda Waller-type figure since the show kind of teased us by giving here the alias "Walker", which I have to applaud the writers for their creative deception. With Nyssa all the signs are there. She lets her emotions dictate her actions, which ultimately leads to her downfall. Keep in find that Nyssa Al Ghul as a character has only existed since 2003 and the only other live-action portrayal of her is in Arrow by Kristina Law. So far Jaime Murray's portrayal of Nyssa is spot on. We will just have to see what happens in the final two episodes of Gotham

Ok but too many logical flaws

Warning: Spoilers
In a show with mind control and fear gas, this episode had the most unbelievable thing in the show. There is absolutely 0 chance the Army would bomb a US city even if ordered by a general. As a vet I also disliked the soldiers blindly following just because they shot one to instill fear. The Bane part of the story was good and it was nice how they worked everything together but I just couldn't get past the bombing as it was a major part of the plot that was just unbelievable.

This is BANE

Warning: Spoilers
So here we are, the final episodes of Gotham and this one was really good, the Bane they put to this show is so great, so strong and his dialogues are so perfect, his voice is great and he is brutal. His story is perfect, helping Ra's Al Ghul daughter to take revenge from Bruce Wayen and Barbara. The riddler and the penguin Team up is just as good as always. And THAT scene where Bane breaks Alfred, WOW! Let's see what the last 2 episodes bring us, because the cliffhanger show us that is not going to be easy to survive

One Bullet Is All It Would Take

Right between Bane's eyes. Oh, and yet another ridiculous fire-fight with hundreds of rounds spent and basically ZERO body count.

I still miss Tom Hardy!

Warning: Spoilers
PROS: Dialogues and The Penguin-RIddler team-up were the only highlights of this episode.

CONS: Too many flaws - No guards in the room for Bruce Wayne. Bane was speaking acting like a robot and his hair was looking like Penguin's style. Jim Gordon knocking two soldiers was way too tame. And Alfred v. Bane was utterly lame and nonsense...did he think he was being the White Knight?

Jaime Murray was sexy as we have seen her in Dexter. A nice pick by WB! See you Gotham gracefully fans next month...don't know why too much gap! My score: 5.5/10 and this Season: 68/10 = 6.8
