Terrible Acting

Yikes, what a disaster.

The opening credits sequence is kind of cool, despite the pacing that is too fast and the woman's talking head scene is a little creepy (even though it's soooo derivative of far superior previous works), and THOSE ARE LITERALLY THE ONLY TWO POSITIVE THINGS THAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS FILM.

The narrative takes a real surface level approach at someone dealing with guilt and fails to dive deeper or really go anywhere in the end. The script isn't nearly as intelligent as it thinks it is, and is a complete and utter mess at times. The lack of music utilized is alarming considering the subject, style and overuse of cheap looking effects dispersed throughout the film. The narrative ends pretty abruptly while also being confusing (and not in a good way) as you aren't given nearly enough time to read what is on the note (and the picture looks out of focus). Some of the audio and video is out of sync in the beginning of the film too. And the voice distortion is much cheesier than it is scary.

Oh, and of course. The acting; OH MY GOD, THE ACTING IS SOOO TERRIBLE. Right from the opening interaction between the couple, the writing seems off and both performances are unnatural. I assume they are supposed to have been together for a while, but the lousy writing and direction make the scene horrifically clunky. The cast was subpar across the board, but the lead actor, particularly as the film progresses is absolutely abysmal. He is completely stilted, his facial expressions are always off, and he can't emote at all. During the scenes in which he's supposed to be crying and/or having a nervous breakdown, it almost looks like he's laughing at times, and it is as equally hilarious as it is painful to witness. I watch a lot of low budget short films and try to keep my expectations tempered with these, and even at this level, THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST PERFORMANCES THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Even if most of the aspects of this film were good (which they clearly are not), the film's potential would be ruined singlehandedly by the lead's miserable performance. I'm just going to assume that the director and actor are good friends because it is almost impossible to believe that this person was actually cast in a role; or maybe the director just has no idea how to cast and needs to actually hire a casting director to handle what I believe is such a crucial part of the film in the future, as it can ABSOLUTELY MAKE OR BREAK A FILM.

Don't waste your time with this amateurish, cheesy, worthless piece of nothing...
