City Council
bobcobb3015 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A bit funnier than the pilot because the show was able to get right to the jokes as opposed to having to explain the backstory of the characters.

The idea of using a boring city council meeting as a premise for an episode is kind of genius in its own right.

This episode made me a fan of the show for sure.

Episode 1 was funny...episode 2 was ok

I find the concept of the show, the actors and the plots thus far to be refreshing. While episode 1 i found to be funny, episode 2 was ok. Still looking forward to episode 3. The characters themselves are entertaining so im definitely coming back each week for more.

I found the movie to be very good ,original and a bit edgy and funny also. Up to now I am glad that they've kept the exact same concept in the series. I am happily surprised by the production values ,there not bad. For now I am looking forward to the next episodes !

BEgone Racoons!
DuskShadow18 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
AS if breaking the 4th wall by pointing at the camera isnt gold already, the references to Interview With the Vampire and the similar ways that vampires comport themselves as laid down by Ann Rice and Bram Stoker, is well receivable. THough in a scene where racoons, the bloody little varmonts, should have fotten their just desserts, this show is really expanding upon what we would think vampires can do. And its doing a much more thorough job of showing these abilities than the movie even did. Fantastic! Laying the groundwork for future characters both alive and dead, leads me to believe I will be very satisfied with how this is going to continue to go. Plus when it gets kinda " violent", its just hilarious. The dark comedy, and even normal comedy keeps shining through. Like daylight...at night...ed.."B-Bat!" * flies off*

Vampire politics for the modern day Addams Family.

I think about how this show is the modern day equivalent of The Addams Family. I love the functional dysfunction. It's so sharp again here. Jemaine Clement on directing duties. The fun is so full-bodied and embraces the lore while simultaneously taking the mickey out of it.

The World of Politics

In order to take over Staten Island, the gang must have the support of the city council. So they attend a boring meeting on zoning. When one gets up to speak, he is told that he can come to open forum in a couple months. The chair of the council becomes their potential source of success. She says she has a problem with raccoons and this leads to some outrageous stuff. A young rather drab college student is dragged into their world. She gets bitten and is apparently going to be a part of things. In order to take over Staten Island, the gang must have the support of the city council. So they attend a boring meeting on zoning. He has been hypnotized and directed to destroy the chairwoman. For the time being, Staten Island is safe.

Good

Ep 2 has a very few moments that felt boring, but against it, the funny jokes are on point. Even thou its not as good as the pilot, it still tastes fresh plus the runtime makes it passable.

Stale Blood

Something in me wants to love this show. I really do. Unfortunately it's not quite there yet. But you can see how promising it is.

There are some great laugh out loud moments in this episode, but unfortunately too much of it feels like a retread of things we already covered in the pilot episode. There weren't enough new ideas here to impress. We already saw the LARPers for instance.

The last part of the episode was really funny, with the explosion at the council meeting and the psychic vampire becoming aroused.

I hope subsequent episodes can keep the humour And creativity levels higher.
