I didn't expect it like the very characters in this episode, Hathaway (haters look away now) is outstanding in a very difficult role. The references to Rita Hayworth, who struggled with mental illness and heartbreak, are also spot on,Great to see REAL people, with their struggles and not wankerish godlike folk pulIulating. Hope more like this to come!!!

This episode broke my heart. I am in the low of my mental illness right now and I feel suffocated by my own thoughts and I haven't seen depiction of my own thoughts so well displayed. This was very well done. I feel a little less alone.

There is so much to be said about this episode. Anne's performance is incredible. Her character's pain is palpable. I cried and cried. This episode was so moving. Mental illness is often, tragically, ignored because of the stigma that goes with it. Another brilliant performance by the beautiful Anne. Thank you for being so transparent and honest. I'm officially hooked on this show. Wow.

What a beautiful and raw performance from Anne Hathaway. Had me in tears. And the poignant moment between her character and her coworker--INCREDIBLE! I've known people with bipolar, have a brother with it and it's not pretty or fun to watch and recognize when the episodes are coming. This was not overly done, not overly glib, just right.

Within the first 2 minutes I figured out what the character was going through. This felt so real and raw and Anne's acting was truly amazing. I like her in most things but not a super fan. She really captured the raw emotion and moments. Really touching story.

A PERSON *IS* NOT BIPOLAR, just as a person *is* not cancer. STOP THIS. JUST STOP.

I have BiPolar II; this episode doesn't even discuss the difference of BPD I and BPD II. (Spoiler: they're not levels, one is not "worse" than two.) I suspect Anne's character falls into BPD I. Her acting is phenomenal and she definitely shows an extreme version of BPD, that *some* people with bipolar experience. It varies from person to person, but the shame is all the same, that's for sure.

Bipolar manic episodes are truly phenomenal, it's what happens after that which sucks. It's almost like coming off of high, actually it's exactly like that.

Hyper sexuality, over-confidence, over spending, lack of ability to handle basic human necessities, lack of interest is all part of the situation. Finding a partner who gets it, and sticks with you, is amazing. (I'm fortunate.)

As hard as it is, and it's HARD, routine is key. And avoiding drugs/alcohol, save for taking your BPD meds. (I'm notorious for going off my meds every 12-18mos thinking "I'm doing great, I don't need these" only to slide about 4mos later and wonder how I got myself into debt, fat, on the couch, mad at everyone around me).

Point being: if you're only getting information about BPD from this episode... well, that ain't the thing. Read about it on NAMI.

As someone who has bipolar I was excited to hear about this. however i was let down by this heavily dramatized attempt at a portrayal. Bipolar is more than just extreme happiness or crying in bed all day. Mania is mostly reckless/chaotic, not living in a musical. Depression is more of a wallow, after years and years of a repeated cycle you become adjusted to the feelings of hopelessness. Most days are just average, neither aspiring/devastating, just a feeling of indifference. Anne did a great job with what she was given, but the writers should have done more research instead of giving us the same, almost in a way glamorized depiction of bipolar

I was once married to a man with sever bipolar disorder although neither of us knew it at the time as he had yet to be diagnosed with it. It was only after I divorced him when he was diagnosed. But this episode displays both the charms and devastating effects of life with someone who is bipolar so beautifully. When my ex was "up," he was incredibly charming & lively. When he was "down," he was bedridden for days. Sullen, monosyllabic. Hathaway deserves a boatload of awards for her incredible portrayal of life with bipolar disorder.

This hit way too close to home. I didn't see it at first the highest high but once she got into that apartment everything became all too familiar.

This episode blew me away. Almost made me cry. So good.

Anne Hathaway does a fantastic job! This is not an easy character to portray and she does wonderfully!!! I think she deserve an Emmy nomination for this.

Very realistic but classy and fun.

I was about to give up on the show since the first two episodes were not so realistic, so plain and out of touch.

But this one did it for me and now I can't wait to watch another one.

Impressive performance from Anna Hathaway who made me cry for the first time watching her.

This show had no business making me cry during one of my sleepless depressive episode.

Hard to understand how someone with bipolar disorder who can't keep a job is able to afford to live in what looks like a $2 million apartment in NYC. This series has its characters living where they could never be. And it's annoying.
