The Fight Machine is the second of two very different movies based on novels by Craig Davidson that Raven Banner debuted at this year’s edition of Fantasia. This one is adapted from his novel The Fighter. The other is The Breach, based on the novel of the same name by his perhaps more familiar pseudonym Nick Cutter.
Paul Harris comes from a rich family. He doesn’t have a care in the world until he mouths off to the wrong person and gets beaten bloody. Humiliated, he develops an obsession with bodybuilding and boxing, training under Lou. Rob Tully on the other hand comes from a working-class family and was, according to his father Reuben, born to fight. He trains with...

[Note: With the film quietly slipping on to VOD in the UK, Us and Canada this week, he’s a reposting of our review of She Never Died from its festival screening last year]
Back in 2015, a little, some might say unknown, movie made its UK debut as part of that years Grimmfest. That film was He Never Died, the Henry Rollins-starring vampire movie that was easily one of the best films I’d seen that year. Skip forward four years and another film in the series, entitled She Never Died, makes it’s European debut at the same festival… Yes, we have not a sequel but more of a gender-switching of that first film with the badass Canadian actress Olunike Adeliyi (American Gods) stepping into the formidable shoes of Henry Rollins as this films lead. Whilst writer/director Jason Krawczyk also trades places, giving up the directorial reigns to Audrey Cummings to...

Former Kew Media Distribution sales boss Jonathan Ford has launched new distribution company Abacus Media Rights (Amr) in partnership with Amcomri Media Group.
Amcomri, whose other entertainment investments include 101 Films, 101 International and Hollywood Classics, has provided Abacus Media Rights with a funding line to support rights acquisitions.
Ford left Kmd, the profitable British sales arm of collapsed Canadian TV group Kew Media, in February after 13 years with the company. Kmd was later placed into administration and its staff made redundant.
Amr will initially focus on distributing documentary features and series, non-scripted and drama series.
The fledgling business has already acquired the rights to a slate of shows to represent on the international market, including CBC drama series “Trickster” and “Leaving Neverland” director and producer Dan Reed’s new HBO and BBC antibiotics doc “Superbug,” as well as Reed’s upcoming “Liberty City” for Channel 4.

Exclusive: The 2019 Screamfest Horror Film Festival has taken a bite out of Eat, Brains, Love, setting the Rodman Flender-directed zombie romantic comedy as its opening-night film. The annual genre fest will run October 8-17 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.
Eat, Brains, Love, which world premiered last month at the UK’s Frighfest, is about Jake (Jake Cannavale) and his dream girl Amanda (Angelique Rivera). The good news is she finally knows his name — but the bad news is both contracted a mysterious sexually transmitted zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class. A teen psychic (Sarah Yarkin) sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division is sent to track them down. Patrick Fabian also stars.
Mike Herro and David Strauss wrote the script based on the novel by Jeff Hart. The pic is produced by Tommy Coriale, Tony Disanto, Brian Hoff, Van Toffler and Cody Weig.
