The scene when Otis meets Maeve after her abortion is when I knew this show was going to be an amazing story. There are themes tackled in this show regardless of where you stand on the issue of abortion that really humanizes the characters. There is so much complexity in the storytelling, it doesn't try to preach a message, it simply follows a story and allows the viewer to feel the emotions. I am personally against abortion but the way the show went about this allows me to feel compassion for the characters. The way Maeve turns around and says "you waited." is when I fell in love with Otis and Maeve's story. The walk home is beautiful as Otis is starting to take a risk and impress Maeve and then she begins to let down her walls and begins to see Otis as someone she can maybe trust. It's a beautiful moment and the music is so gentle and sweet, for me it's very emotional and made me tear up. For how crude the show is, it simply pulls no punches about its subject matter and I think it's worth noting how special the show is. The writing and characters are interesting even if you can't relate.
