Missed the mark
bradyfo5 May 2022
For the past 2 weeks I've been actually excited about the Thursday release of this weeks Halo episode. After this weeks episode I'm not sure if I want to watch the show anymore; there's so many better shows out there to be honest. Firstly, why is the show named 'halo' focussing on a girl who's story nobody actually cares about. We need some chief v covenant fight scenes and more development of that story, but no. They chose to make this as boring as possible.

Seriously, they're losing me, and I'm sure a lot of other people quickly - and after 2-3 promising episodes beforehand.

Do better for the sake of entertainment, please.

5/10.

bad directing
artemislogic5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't even know where to start, the directing was terrible, the acting was flat and out of place for multiple actors(usually a result of terrible directing), and design choices jump the shark and make no sense, this was a terrible episode.

How did they survive an explosion behind half metal door which had huge vents in which would let the explosion through? They get covered in fire, everyone dies and explodes, but they're 2 meters behind half a metal door and they're fine? It felt like some sh* you'd see in an episode of a low budget b-rated tv series from 20 years ago, like Smallville. This is just one bad design choice, who's decision was that? The episode is littered with them.

The way side characters act is flat and robotic with no pacing, and no character consistency, no... direction.

Anyway, enough of this I'll go play halo infinite campaign.

Filler episode for a filler subplot
joecool-073015 May 2022
This episode derails the momentum of the previous two episodes, all while adding nothing important to the main story. On its own it would be a good episode, but in this show it feels unnecessary and forced. You can literally skip this episode and not miss a thing.

Thank goodness the writers heard us and have us the highly demanded Kwan Ha episode...
JabezGill5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Oh wait... literally the most pointless character in this show.

I'm sure I will get a lot of hate for this review but... what a waste. We left last weeks episode at such an interesting moment... And now we get this snooze-fest forgettable episode that focuses on the least important side characters. (The should CTRL-ALT-DLT the entire Madrigal storyline of this show. Dull and poorly written)

I hate when shows do this - they dedicate an entire episode to a side character as a filler to avoid moving the main story long - and, as such, we don't get any forward movement in the main episode.

No character on this show is deserving of an entire episode that takes away from Master Chief... HOWEVER... if it was necessary then literally every Spartan, Dr. Keyes ... any of the humans... heck even the covenant characters would be more interesting than a Kwan Ha episode.

Really Kwan and Soren are the two least interesting characters to me.

If anybody from Paramount + reads this... what is the point of doing "premium" shows that have limited episodes and higher budgets... if you're going to do filler like this? 8-10 episodes should be nothing but meat from the main storyline.

You can completely skip that one

Let's be honest, nobody cares about her, I hoped her arc would end being left in that space station until whatever, but no we have this useless arc with boring setting and boring characters... Skip skip skip...

PLEASE GET RID OF KWAN HA
qasim-abdullah5 May 2022
Get rid of Kwan Ha and the needless Madrigal plot, PLEASE! She's an abhorrent character, totally needless.

What a dumb episode.

I hope they just simply drop it in the next season, or find a way to simply kill her, I hope Kwan Ha dies ASAP.

Finally the Madrigal sideline is finished
kinodavai5 May 2022
People who hate Kwang Ha will go crazy. But I, in turn, will say that the problem has always been not in the character herself, but in her story. In a storyline that was written lazily and uninterestingly. She had nothing to do with what was really important. But now it seems that they have decided to correct this situation.

The episode completely drags Soren, he is cool, good and interesting. I liked the cameo of the Master Chief in his own series in visions.

And the final fight was pretty good. It's a little better than the fourth episode, but still a pretty mediocre episode.

Let us all pretend this episode does not exist.
namob-436735 May 2022
I praise this show all the time, I love it and the development the acting the music and the world is all wonderful. There are however two things I dislike. The politics is a bit annoying, and then we have this asian girl who got involved in the first episode and I have no idea why we are still following her around. Her story is pointless, her acting is abysmal, and everything goes down the drain every time the story is about her. This entire episode is about her and... ouhm... I dunno, something.

The worst character on TV played by the only actress on the show who clearly cannot act get a full episode when the show is finally getting great... What the...

Since everything else an cinematography is still topnotch I will give this episode a 2/10, but this was awful. Boring, awful, horrible badly acted nonsense. What does this have to do with anything? What is the point of this weird side quest? If there was a third artifact and this horrible actress was out looking for it I could understand it, but what is this? Why are this filmed? Who thought this belongs on this show?

This was a complete disaster for this show and whomever thought this Kwan side character and pointless side quest was a good idea need to be fired immediately. Complete gibberish and absolute pointless.

2/10 and let us all pretend this episode does not exist.

Why don't people think it helped progress the plot line?
mrmo-983676 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this episode actually helped tie up some loose ends from earlier in the season. Doesn't it help us understand why Madrigal is so special? And there's a supposed portal on the planet that we don't know about. Obviously the ending with the explosion was quite unrealistic, but this is a sci-fi show. I thought the ending battle scene was quite entertaining. Anyway, I think the episode does tie the season together and is fun to watch!

Unfortunately a necessary episode
firstborn149219 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
With a bit of a floundering start, I didn't have high expectations for this show. But it's grown on me, I like most of the cast and for the most part it looks good. Unfortunately due to the janky first couple of episodes it feels like they had to shoehorn an episode to show how the character Kwan fits into the bigger story. When the thread should've been woven in throughout the season. I like Kwan, she helps bring a helpless normal human perspective to a world of modified super humans, aliens, and military forces. Sadly to dedicate an entire episode to her character just so you can show that she's connected to the AI that runs Halo was a sloppy move.

So far it was the weakest episode, but sadly a necessary one to connect characters for the finale likely. Certainly not deserving of the abysmal score it was mantled with, but what can you do?

A grotesque sideshow
bosporan5 May 2022
Without doubt the worst episode, an unnecessary Kwan/Soren-066 centric story which detracts severely from the ethos of Halo. A massive disappointment following the superb previous edition. This whole plotline should have been deleted, it adds too much extraneous nonsense into the universe that nobody wants or needs.

To add insult to injury, it is poorly executed even on its own terms. It boasts an excessively villany villain, a Mary Sue and a new faction introducing ill-fitting capabilities - all tied together with a wafer-thin story, clumsy dialogue and exposition-dump narration.

All around, an abomination.

Absolute masterpiece! Warning: Spoilers
What did we have this week? Another banger episode, I tell you!

Spielberg once again proved why he's worthy of the title "The Godfather of Sci-fi shows". The cast really shines under his direction, and the lines perfectly encapsulate what "Halo" is all about: The familial drama, and the witty remarks.

If there is one thing that set the episode for me, that was Kwan's comeback to Vinsher's "Your father was like a brother to me...". While looking him straight in the eye from about 75 meters away, she said with a voice full of passion and pure, unfiltered rage: "Also, Vishner? My father hated you.". Truly an Oscar-worthy line.

That said, all things have shortcomings, unfortunately. The worst aspect of this episode, by far, was Master Chief's inclusion. I really can't fathom why he was included! We don't want to see a Halo show. We want to see a Kwan Ha - of Madrigal/ "my father fought and died for you"/ "WHERE IS THE RESISTENCE, YOU COWARDS?!"/ "What did you tell my father? What do you mean I'm not ready?! You don't know how ready I am to whoop your goddamn asses on the spot! So tell me what you said to him all those years back!" show.

Yeah, so anyways, "The Batman" is an amazing film. Definite must-watch!

So Many Questions, well, two so far
akon20026 May 2022
While I like the story and adaptation of the Halo game I am left with so many questions? Like; why does Bokeem Woodbine's character have a messed up arm? I know why it is but why is it still? This is the future, he makes good money as a pirate of UNSC property? Couldn't he have a new arm grown and connected or have a state of the art prosthesis built for him? And, why does Burn Gorman's character Vincher Grath have an SUV vehicle that he gets chauffeured around Madrigal in by his lackey? Again, this is Halo , he could have a bad a** ship he tools around in? Why land in a ship from space and drive off in a wheeled, land based vehicle? Seems like one too many steps for a space-nazi?

WTF WAS THIS EPISODE?

I

DONT

CARE

ABOUT

KWAN HA.

Or soren, or this cartoonishly lame evil character vinsher.

Or madrigal, like at all.

Imagine how much better (and shorter) this show would have been if kwan ha would have died in the first episode, i rest my case.

BTW what kind of "vault" was that? They even showed how stupid it was by depicting how the explosion's flames got inside that vault. Yeah those 2 should be dead.

an entire episode devoted to the most repulsive and pointless character.
flowirin5 May 2022
Unfortunately, the writers thought that a rude, brash, entitled, angry, petulant and generally vile character wouldf it into this series, instead of just being awful, annoying and irritating.

And they decided to give us an entire episode that is supposed to be some kind of character development arc, but in reality is just said awful and generally repulsive person being awful and repulsive but now with extra plot armour.

This is a godawful series.

Story Arc Sucks
ryebailey20026 May 2022
Kwan Ha sucks as a character. Her story is pointless. This episode is the worst, after such an awesome 6th episode where viewers didn't have to put up with the dumb "rebellion on Madrigal" story, here we are back at it wasting an episode. Hopefully, next week is better.

Fans of games don't know how to make shows
jamespatriot19115 May 2022
Get over yourself. I'm sorry Halo isn't A first person shooter that's just constant run and gun with a 2 minute cut scene every hour to progress the story. GOOD NEWS! You can run back to your video games to go and teabag your 13 year old buddies.

Nobody cares about these plot lines
nilsurban-503995 May 2022
Why do I have to watch this when I actually want to watch HALO?

The actors are good, no doubt, but these two plot lines (girl and pirate) are incredibly boring and nobody cares about them.

The more of these two plot lines they put into HALO the less people will watch it, I guarantee that.

Not sure why this episode is getting so much hate
brent-tyson1237 May 2022
It was a fun episode in my opinion. Character building and a pretty cool action scene in the last 15 minutes. I know my opinion doesn't matter but i enjoyed it. This show is solid.

Don't let the gamers spoil your fun!
pymsfzqf8 May 2022
Never owned a XBOX and never played the game so I'm not weighed down what all kinds lore and why I think the show must be more like the game and al that fanboy bla, bla... I love SF and this show gives me more than enough of it.

I like the sub-plot with Kwan and Soren.. gives the show more dimension than just chief trying to figure things out. Gives you the sense of a bigger universe and more than just spartans fighting the covenant.

Offcourse not as good a The Expanse but considering this is an adaptation from a game, I enjoy it very much!

And yes.. some parts can be better.. but the actors are better than average en the SFX is also not that bad!

If the fanboys want stuff closer to source material, let them play the game. The rest off us kan just relax and watch an fun SF show!

Why?
monoelm5 May 2022
I fast forwarded through most of the episode and I still feel like I wasted too much time on this episode.

I've honestly liked the show up until this episode. I never saw the point of including Kwan after the first episode, everything her character has done has seemed pointless. The only saving grace was she was around a cool character in 66 and her scenes were relatively short. That made this episode that much worse by spending all the time on her.

I just hope the creators listen to the people with problems with her. This isn't a "boys not liking 'strong' women" scenario. There are tons of strong women in this show who are incredibly interesting and who deserve much more screen time than Kwan Ha. The show would be in a much better place if the character and this rebellion angle just ended full stop. All they accomplished here was making something that felt like a filler episode in a short first season. To take from another property "This in not the way."

This is a great episode
merlaguine5 May 2022
So many people are cringes here. Stop these bads reviews seriously. This important episode introduces Kwan Ah and her IMPORTANT origin. I mean, gamers and others lazy ones seems too impulsive to remember who is the Forerunners aka the most powerfull species in Halo story. Also, the guys behind the artefacs and are the orign of Halo structure. We have a great wonderfull sci-fi show!

Missed Connection
hoos-599885 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a weird episode. There was a cool fight and we got to see Soren-066 kick some ass. Kwan, who is no one's favorite character, got the snot beat out of her by a dream sequence Master Chief. And the mustache-twirling villain went out in a cloud of flames. What's not to like about that?

However, it still all felt very disconnected from the main story arc. I've been reading the Forerunner Saga of Halo novels this week, so I can kinda see what they are trying to do with Kwan's family history and their connection to that robot drone from the well (monitor), but the show gave the audience absolutely no information about it, so how are they supposed to relate that to anything in the Halo universe?

This episode could have been saved with a few small changes. More than any other episode so far, it needed a companion. Obviously, we're not done with the planet Madrigal yet...let's hope the action there picks up quickly.

Worthless filler
joel-vd-meer5 May 2022
Unlike some who were continuesly negative of this show I quite liked it.

I was honestly looking forward more and more to each episode. Untill this monster. We're finally well into the main story and now we get some sidestory quest with horrible acting and cringeworthy scenes.

Honestly I never really got these types of episodes, the so called "fillers". Really good way to lose an audience halfway through a season. Besides one key fact that is probably gonna matter for the whole story this episode could have been skipped.
